Dol Amroth: Prince's Castle - Hall of Armour(#11242ROn)
This room serves as the entry hall for the Palace. Wide and long, as well as sixty feet from floor to arched ceiling it is indeed vast. The polished marble of the floor is slick and icelike, well-maintained. Flanking the hall to north and south are alcoves cut into the wall, where rest many suits of armour--monuments of past valor. The space between these empty husks is draped in richly coloured tapestries, bearing the devices of noble families and kingdoms long since turned to dust. They stop as the ceiling here the walls curve into a vault, and there a mosaic, intricately worked, takes over. On a polished silver pedestal in the center of the hall rises a large statue, some twice the height of a man, exuding a sense of noble melancholy even before the details of it are fully realized.
Light here filters in from windows spaced high on the walls to the north and south--dim light, though, compared to the brilliant glory that lies westward further into the castle--with lamps placed among the alcoves that add a gentle glow, glimmering on sword and helm. Eastward stand the great doors out of the castle, black giants of lebethron and silver thrice a man's height and width.

Kaide enters into the massive hall. Her eyes raised up to the ceiling trying to take in the brillance and magnificance of the room. She stops in her tracks in awe, the ambiance overwhelming her, so much so she does not even notice any others standing about.
The clear crisp winter morning finds those in the palace busy with the last minute details of the tournament and faire. Servants scuttle around placing decorations and making sure that every corner of the citadel is shining for the quests that are beginning to arrive. One woman kneels before the silver pedestal in the center of the hall and furiously rubs the silver, buffing it to a high gloss. Two men bring in a small cherry table and place it to the left of the room and then a huge bowl of fruit in a golden bowl is placed in the middle upon a scarf of tatted white lace. The sister of Imrahil strolls into the room, carefully noting the extra decorations and the fresh spring scent of athelas in the room, as there are baskets placed through out the palace. Smiling to one servant as he bobs nervously and then proceeds to clean one of high windows, another servant high upon a scaffold cleaning the top windows.
[Gweneth(#17847)] "Lady Ivriniel, what a surprise to find you down examing the work of others," Gweneth says, a surprisingly good attempt at a warm smile flits across her lips, that actually comes across quite well, as she glides towards the woman over the marble floor, "Is there something I can help you with, or perhaps you just came to watch?"
Kaide's attention moves fluently from place to place about that hall trying to take in all the surroundings and get a better feel for the area before progressing any furthur in. Her attention however, finally rests upon a woman, very ornamently decorated as if of high importance. Kaide smiles warmly, envious yet in awe of her beauty.
The daughter of Adrahil fails to notice the dark skinned woman as she continues to stroll around the Hall, commenting on the lovely job the servants are done. The voice of the Chamberlain does draw her attention as she hears the sarcasm drip from her voice. Turning slowly, Ivriniel smiles ever so -sweetly- and remarks, "How lovely to see you this morning Lady Gweneth", one finely shaped brow raising slightly as if to indicate otherwise. A wave of one delicate hand, encompassing all of the servants hard at work, is seen as Ivriniel remarks, "Twas a lovely morning and I did want to check to make sure things were in order for the tournament...as my brother is oft times too busy with politics and the evil necessity of war councils."
lookaway Kaide
Dark yet captivating features adorn the woman who stands before you. Her black hair is pulled back away from her face and braided down her back which more clearly shows a beautiful, lightly olive skinned face with black eyebrows that grace deeply inlaid brown eyes which are framed by her thick lips and sharp chin. She wears a black dress with red and golden lining that hangs low nearly dragging upon the ground making just visible the black sandals upon her feet. Golden jewelry mounts her body nearly in every area from short earrings to multiple necklaces and bracelts both on her wrists and ankles. She is a tall woman though not as tall as most men, and is slender in her build yet defined as if she were capable of some athletic feat. Her movements denote grace and intensity as everything she does is done with an acute preciseness.
[Kaide(#12422)] The young Kaide cocks her head a bit in an attempt to hear the conversation of the woman she had been so entralled with all the while, moving ever slowly, closer to where she converses with another lady, nearly just as ornamented.
[Gweneth(#17847)] "Oh, things are going well," Gweneth says, ever being friendly, "Indeed, this will be the third year I have taken on the duties from the Prince. As in the past, this year too shall be a success and I think it hardly worth your time to check on anything so... so," she looks up for a momment, thinking of the word, "Absolute as the execution of the tournament by my hands. Though..." she pauses, catching sight of Kaide behind Ivriniel, "Good day to you, milady, may I direct you somewhere?" she calls to the young woman.
Kaide looks up sharply at Gwenenth calling at her, her gaze shifting quickly to the woman. She smiles respectfully, "Oh m'lady," she bows though cannot hide the amount of inhibition in her voice, "I apologize...I was just, I was just overhearing you talk of the tournament. It is a great feat to put together something of this magnitude and to do it so well. Unboubtably you are both great women in deed and a role model for one such as I."
A hint of amusement curls the lips of the Princess as she listens to the words of the Chamberlain, 'My -darling- Gweneth, your position of Chamberlain is far less lofty than that of having the blood of the Prince flow through your veins." Slowly eyeing the younger woman she says, "Not to detract from your position and the work you do for my brother in -any- manner. But I will -check- upon anything in the citadel as I see fit. After all, my dearly beloved brother expects me to do just that, as well as -report- to him of any ...shall I say, problems? Turning slightly as Gweneth calls to the olive skinned woman, Ivriniel notes the extraordinary amount of jewelry upon the woman but remains silent, a smile of greeting upon her lips, none the less.
[Gweneth(#17847)] Gweneth moves past the Princess, practically ignoring her words, "Yes, yes, of course, milady. Now you young lady," she says, her attention fully on Kaide, "I have not had the pleasure, I am Lady Gweneth, Royal Chamberlain of this castle, and though the position is meek, I find happiness in doing what I can for the Prince's visitors." She pauses, only slightly, "I wonder then, are you here for the tournament?"
Kaide bows again and passes her hand out to towards the woman in a wave. "It is good to know the name of one who can put together and organize such wonderous things. I cannot help but marvel at all the surrounds me. And as you have probably already assumed you being quite astute, I am here for the tournament and am looking very forward to attending it. Such things do delight my fancy." She chuckles a little and smiles, "I do not, however have an escort to the tournament. I'm afraid I will have to go by myself though I do not rightly fear being alone."
A soft chuckle slips past the pink lips of the Princess as the Chamberlain goes about her many duties. Ivriniel strolls to where the servant continues to polish the silver pedestal in the center of the room and her hand reaches out to gently touch the statue there. Turning as the olive skin woman speaks of the tournament the sister of Imrahil smiles to herself, obviously enjoying her little stoll as she meanders nearer to where the women stand, the hint of essence of roses announcing her presence before she gets there...not to mention the bowing of servants as they clear a path.
Kaide turns suddenly away from her conversation with Gweneth sense one of higher nobility approaching as well as the woman who she had original become entranced with. Watching the others servants about, she bows quickly before the woman attempting to follow suit.
Waving one hand to the woman Ivriniel says softly, "Rise please.", a gentle smile upon her lips as she inquires, 'So you are here for the tournament? From whence did you come?" Silvery grey eyes framed by long dark lashes hold those of the young woman as she says, "Tis always a pleasure to welcome visitors to Dol Amroth.", pausing as she awaits a response, Ivriniel frowns slightly as she notices her Lady in Waiting trying to capture her attention over the shoulder of the young woman. Narrowing her eyes slightly, she sends a -silent- message of silence to her newest employee.
[Gweneth(#17847)] Oddly Gweneth does not smirk, nor frown as the woman bows deeply to Ivriniel. Her gaze though does not leave Kaide as she too awaits an answer to the question raised by the Princess.
Kaide rises to her feet and looks up to the woman, she being a bit taller than herself, "Thank you, m'lady, it is a great honor to be here and to see this tournament. I am from parts about. My family is one of merchants and traders that hail from eastern lands in Gondor. I heard of the tournament and knowing my brothers were to conduct some business near here, I came with them here while they continued with their trade." She smiles and eyes Gweneth suspiciously, sensing some fire between the two women making her feel a bit uneasy.
Nodding her head in concentration, Ivriniel says, "The eastern lands of Gondor....near what city, M'Lady?" Again the narrowed eyes and a quick shake of her head is given to her Lady in Waiting as the sister of Imrahil says, "Forgive me. I have a new Lady in Waiting and she is perhaps a bit concentious in her duties." Looking back to the young woman she says, "Now...where were we? Oh yes. What city do you hail from?" A smile curves her lips as she says, "I do hope you have the beauty of the Bay of Belfalas or the Anduin gracing your shore"

Kaide smiles, "A small shipping settlement near Pelagrir actually. We handle some of the middle trade between the merchants and the shipping lines at Pelagrir. And as for your city. It is beautiful. This is my first time to Dol Amroth and I am extremelty impressed. Most of my travels, when I do, take me only to smaller settlements and areas, not to such large beautiful cities." Her voice continues to grow with excitement, "Such a wonderful area this is really, I'm almost willing to move here myself!"
At the mention of Pelargir the face of the Princess fills with concern as she says, "Oh my! I do hope your shipping firm was not involved in the burning in Pelargir recently." Shaking her head the Master healer continues, "The halls of Healing are still filled with the men, women and children scorched by the breath of the dragon and the ensuing fires and destruction of that town." Sighing deeply, "My heart aches for the town of Pelargir, so oft it is burned by the Corsairs ....and to face burning again from another foe is a heavy burden." Shaking off the worries of her neighbors and patients Ivriniel smiles warmly, "Dol Amroth is the crown jewel of Gondor..", a wry smile is seen as she adds, 'At least in my opinion it it, but alas, I might be prejudiced"
Gweneth smiles warmly at the young woman, "Indeed," she begins in agreement with the Princess, "The tragedy of Pelargir has taken a heavy toll of all of Gondor. The docks of Pelargir still fill with ships, but captains are more wary these days. The docks of Dol Amroth are almost as busy as those in Pelargir. Though, too, we have places of education and knowledge that rival Pelargir, if not all of Gondor. Which leads me to agree with the Princess, Dol Amroth is quite easily the grandest city in Gondor." She pauses a momment before continuing, "Your family are merchants? May I inquire what they sell?" Her smile widens as she chuckles lightly, "I am sure they must be quite prosperous."
Kaide's own face fills with concern but one of a different caliber than that of the princess. Recomposing herself quickly she replies solemnly, "Thankfully my family travels a bit or else I should be more concerned for their safety." She turns her attention back to Gweneth but still faces Irviniel respectfully, "They sell all sorts of ornamentation gathered from abroad." She holds up her arm as the bracelets clack together, "As you see, I am more of a show girl for my brothers than anything else. I know very little of trade and spend more of my time advertising." She sighs, "Though I have been trying to get away from it as of late, I came here for a little rest and relaxation."
Ever a woman first of all, Ivriniel smiles as her eyes fall to the golden bracelets upon the arms of the woman and she says in admiration, 'They are quite lovely. Truthfully, they were the first thing I noticed." Leaning closer to examine them she lightly touches one and inquires, "Who does such exquisite work?" Suddenly the raven head of the Princess rises quickly and a smile of embarassment and horror mixed mars her expression, "Do pardon me, M'Lady", waving one hand to the Chamberlain she says, "This is Lady Gweneth, in case you missed the introduction earlier and I am Lady Ivriniel, Master healer of Gondor."
[Gweneth(#17847)] Gweneth simply bows her head as she is reintroduced. Her eyes glancing briefly over Kaide's jewerly but quickly returns her gaze to the woman's face.
[Gweneth(#17847)] At that momment, a young servant steps into the hall, "Milady! One of the squires is sick and... oh, milady," she curtsies to Ivriniel then continues, quieter to Gweneth, "Well, yes, he has been sick." Gweneth says, "If you would excuse me," and steps out of the hall.
Kaide smiles warmly, "It is no problem, I did not ask as I did not feel it my place to ask. But I thank you kindly, Irviniel and Gwetheth." She proceeds to allow Irviniel to examine the bracelets, "Actually I do not rightly know from where they come. I only see my father and brothers bringing them in. My mother..." she pauses and swallows, recomposes and continues, "Well, when my mother was alive, she was skilled in the fashioning of such, but I never really got to know her." She smiles and nods and Gweneth excuses herself and then turns her attention back to the lady.
Always curious, the sister of Imrahil continues the conversation, "I have always been interested in the making of lovely pieces. There is an old craftsman that is passing on his knowledge to several apprentices and he crafts some of the most beautiful pieces I have seen." A soft laugh slips out as she admits, "Although, I have seen several pieces confiscated from some of the smugglers that were lovely and ..unique. Quite unlike anything seen in our area." Nodding her head solemnly Ivriniel says, 'I am sorry to hear about the demise of your mother."
Kaide nods solemnly, "Yes some of that which is caught from smugglers is particularly interesting. Especially that from the southlands. It amazed me that such vile individuals could be capable of such beautiful artistry." She looks down at the bracelets again, "Thank you for you interest in these, I feel so very honored, and I cannot wait to tell me brothers."
Raising one brow in question Ivriniel asks, 'Have you met any of the Southrons in person? Or just by chance have seen the artistry of their work?" A bitter laugh sounds as she says almost to herself, "Tis hard to admire artistry when one is aware of the savagery behind their actions." Shaking her head, "But enough about that." Changing the subject she asks, "Have you found lodgings since your arrival?"
Kaide's face gets a bit grim. "I have had extremely limited dealings with them, but I am not ashamed of them. My mother was one." Her words strike cold and unfeeling as she looks away and drops her arm. "I apologize...."
Shock would most aptly describe the expression of the Princess as her mouth drops open at the words of the woman. Then quickly she regains her composure and says in surprise, "Forgive my shock M'Lady, you would have to know of my own experience with the dreaded Corsair to understand my hatred." One slender finger traces a scar, barely visible upon her slender throat as Ivriniel says, "This is from the scimitar of Khazamr, a visible reminder of my meeting with him. When he slaughtered everyone on a ship in the Bay of Belfalas but myself..looting everything", a tick in her jaw clearly showing her agitation as Ivriniel draws in a deep breath and then says, 'Tis hard for me to find any form of understanding of that type of action."

Gwaiandir comes striding in and cannot help but see the gathering of loveliness (not the males) in the room. He smiles with open delight and stops, youthful enthusiasm apparent. To the princesses, he makes a manly but gracefully understated bow. His hair falls into his eyes, so he pushes it back, still smiling. Then he catches the import of the princesses reaction.
Kaide nods and turns her head away, "I had mentioned prior that I was not ashamed. Well, I am not ashamed of who I am, only of what that part of me is known for. She looks away furthur and turns. Her head drops and tears begin to well up. She chokes a bit in her voice, "I am sorry. I have no right to even stand before you. You have suffured much and..." She pauses and turns back to Ivriniel, the tears now running down her cheeks, "I do not know what to say. You have been so kind to me already."
[Gadrimir(#22618)] walking silently into the room comes a man clad in green, his cowl back to show his face. Kind pale blue eyes stare out. They go to the servants in the room. then to where the princess and an odd woman is standing. The woman is like none he has ever seen. he blinks once then starts over as he sees her crying. " Excuse me myladies. May I be of sevice?" he asks kindly. Yes it is Gadrimir
[Lothiriel(#4309)] A shadow falls across the archway to the west as a young woman enters the hall. Even as she glides through the arch however, two larger shadows follow, tall knights and stern, clad as Guards of the castle. The woman glances about the room, grey-blue eyes glinting in the light, and walks quietly to stand not far from Ivriniel and Kaide. Yet she says nothing...
The heart of the woman is touched somewhat by the tears of the girl from Pelargir and Ivriniel says softly, "Dry your tears girl. There are many injustices in this word and you cannot deny the blood of your heritage, anymore than I can deny my own elven bloodline." Cool grey eyes peruse the face of the girl as she says, with a hint of warning in her voice, 'As long as your heritage is not embraced." Turning to the man in green she says politely, "Good day sir. And you would be?" Ivriniel falls silent as she continues to stare at the young woman of Haradrim blood.
[Gwaiandir(#16015)] While the princess comforts the woman, Gwair moves to say a quiet word to the guard which escorts Lothiriel, careful to mind his manners and bow if she notes him.
Kaide does not look at the man addressing her, but keeps her eyes fixated upon Ivriniel unsure of what to think, "I...I understand..." Looking disgraced and unworthy she lowers her head again and turns away to wipe away the tears noticing only now the new faces in the room. She signs slightly then recourses, stretches her arms and takes a deep breath. In an almost light tone she says, "My! such a crowd we've gathered."
Gadrimir nods to Irveniel then looks to the new woman. " I am gadrimir of the Anduin. a scout and servant of Gondor."
[Lothiriel(#4309)] Lothiriel smiles at Kaide's comment, a soft chuckle escaping her as she makes her presence known. "I hear that Lady Ivriniel attracts a crowd wherever she goes."
One of the guards standing with her raises a brow at Gwaiandir's comment, nodding slowly and whispering it to his fellow.
Gwaiandir steps back from Lothiriel's guard and circles around near to the princess Ivriniel. He smiles, rather shyly it seems. He makes no effort to be noted however. He seems to be looking for a better view of the lovely Kaide.
Kaide turns again as she is adressed and bows slightly, "My name is Adelle. A tourist of sorts." She winks at Ivriniel, "I am here to see the tournament."
Surprise floods the face of Ivriniel as she glances around the room, as if suddenly aware of all of those that gathered in the beauty of the Hall of Armour. A simple bow of her head and gentle smile of acknowledgement is given to those that her grey eyes catch as they scan the room and then a smile lights up her countenance with delight, "Lothiriel, my beloved niece" Half turning where she stands the Princess says softly, "Tis nice to see you out and about my dear."
[Dathgar(#19765)] The large palace doors slowly open, just large enough for a head to get through. Through this opening, the head of a young man pops through the crack, his wild green eyes shining brightly. Peering around, the young man knocks once and enters the room. Walking over to the group that occupies the room, he says, "Eh.. umm.. 'ello.. hi.. sorry to bother.. I'm a bit lost.."
Lothanis enters, favoring the right side of his chest, and winces slightly. Seeing Kaide and Ivriniel standing together, his eyes widen. Shaking off the look, he approaches the gathering with a smile. Bowing to Princess Lothiriel, he says, "Your Grace. May I introduce myself? I am Lothanis Bragollach, squire to the Lord Knight-Herald himself. I believe you two are aquainted?" he adds, not necessarily a question. He nods to Gwair then turns to Ivriniel and bows deeply. "M'Lady."
Gadrimir smiles and nods " A pleasure to meet you Adelle. I am glad you have come to such a nice town, for such a nice time." he bows to her , then sends a smile and a wink.
[Lothiriel(#4309)] Lothiriel smiles at her aunt ere turning to the others in the room. And yet, as Lothanis enters and introduces himself, her smile disapears and she draws back a step. "A good day, Squire," is all she says, coldly, almost with fear. But it passes, and a moment later the smile returns to her face.
Gwaiandir nods back at Lothanis, but the corner of his mouth twitches into half a smile. Other than that, he seems rather preoocupied by the strange woman.
The Lady in Waiting of the Princess steps forth and says, "Your Grace, I must speak with you, please." Smiling as she nods her head to those gathered Ivriniel says softly, 'There are things that I must see too before the beginning of the tournament. Please excuse me" Quickly the sister of Imrahil looks to Lothanis and gives him a silent look of censure before she gracefully turns on her heel and glides from the room, the essence of rose wafting through the air as she departs.
Kaide smiles and giggles a bit at the glance from Gadrimir, "Why thank you for your kindness sir. I do hope that there will be one so kind as you that will be able to escort me to the tounrament later as I am without."
Kaide turns as the lady leaves and waves a bit bowing low. "Thank you, I shall look forward to see you again."
