Pelargir: Anarion\'s Gate

Enormous iron gates, tarnished and worn by age, lie partly drawn in an ancient grey granite archway, each point of the individual iron bars dulled where they have constantly embraced the granite slabbed street below. Massive lebethron doors frame the road, flung open to allow travellers and wagons to pass, carved with cunning patterns so that as the distance lengthens it seems as though a great tree is shuttered in each door. The street opens into a small courtyard dominated by a large bronze statue, and a small path, trimmed by obsidian slabs turns towards the large stone stables. To the north you can see the distant tops of trees, brilliant clouds of green with the grey ribbon of the south road slipping between them.

The rain comes down slowly. The wide way to the north seems to be devoid of any travellers on this late winter\'s day. Exiting the city comes Boromir and his company, preparing to make the last stage of the journey to Minas Tirith.

A few paces behind the Captain General, walks Tamran. A slight limp can still be seen with every step the young Sergeant takes, but his pace is quick and keeps up with the ranks.

\"Never again Sergeant,\" says Boromir to Tamran, \"Shall I make such a long delay from errantry. Not loitering again in idle pleasures. Now forth we go to the north, and that native land which I love so much. Now, is your company assembled? Bear full armour so that it glints, so that from afar the eye of my father may espy our homecoming.\"

Kadareth, a Men-at-Arms rides behind the Captain General, bearing the standard of the Tree in his hands. He is silent, not partaking of his comrades\' conversations. He had spent the previous night prodding old wounds, memories of his early days in the guard, as he told the account of his adventures to Lord Boromir and the rest of the travelling party. Now he was silent, riding gloomily towards home.

The loud voice of the Captain, quickly snaps Tamran out of his thoughts. Without a moment of hesitation, he takes a few steps towards Boromir, and with a bow, says, simply responding to the question, \"Aye sir. The men are ready, wearing armor and helmet.\"

Nodding with satisfaction, Boromir then takes his own burning helm and sets it upon his head. Then he leaps aboard his steed. Taking the horn of his fathers, he sets it to his lips and sets forth a tremendous blast. The journey is renewed!

Lebennin: South Road - North of Pelargir

The battered street here before the city walls of Pelargir shows the signs of heavy traffic into the city and out to the principalities that surround the port city. Men and women afoot, on horseback, or totting a wagon full of goods for the market, stream by. The walls themselves, complete with guard towers are an imposing sight of numenorean architechture. The passage of time and the circumstances of their initial construction have worn the behemoth down, and there are parts of the wall in need of repair.

To the west, small buildings have cropped up outside the protective walls of the city. To the south, through the opening of the walls, stand a few guards in an open square. To the north lie the plush green hills of southern Lebennin.

The son of Denethor now speaks at ease with his Men, \"Kadareth, and you Tamran. To what company have you been assigned?\"

With the sound of the horn, the company of guards set fourth. Turning towards Boromir, Tamran speaks again in respectfull tone, \"The Silver Ship, Lord Boromir, under Lieutenant Indanath.\"

Kadareth starts to attention, drawn from his concerns by the voice of Boromir, \"Oh, The Company of the Silver Ship, milord.\"

.

Lebennin: South Road

Through the rolling hills two small roads twine together here, one crossing the other in a low valley of fields. The more travelled road heads in the northern and southern directions. The other, a road travelling east over the Anduin, leads towards South Ithilien and the foreboding Haradwraith. In the distance, towards the southwest, you can see a small dot upon the horizon that is the great port city of Pelargir.

\"Indanath?\" says Boromir. \"He is a good man. Have you been to the marches? Have you warred with him leading you yet?\"

Boromir gazes on ahead, the glitter of the Anduin curving north.

Tamran slightly shakes his head, \"Nay, my Lord. Recently he has taken command of the Silver Ship. A good man he is indeed and cares about his men...even when he pushes them during training.\" a small grin appears on his face as his gaze falls north also.

Boromir nods thoughtfully, \"He is an old campaigner. It is well enough. Soon your company shall come with me to the Marchs.\"

Tamran turns towards the Captain-General, \"The Marchs? Has news of trouble reached us, sir?\", he says, a tone of surprise and curiousity in his voice.

Kadareth resumes his silence as he rides behind the Captain General, not a word to say of Indanath. But Boromir\'s mention of the marches forces Kadareth to ask, \"When will we participate in such campaign?\" his voice sounds anxious for action. \"And who is the Gondor\'s foe this time?\"

\"Nay,\" says Boromir as he rides on slowly. \"No trouble, but it is time that the garrison in Osgiliath was changed and strengthened. I wish to inspect the works and especially the bridge.\"

Lebennin: South Road

This spot is a day\'s trek from Pelargir in the south and to the Ford of the Erui in the north. At one time, a small village with a large inn stood here, but all that remains is the hollow shell of the inn.

Boromir laughs and says to Kadareth, \"As always Kadareth, our foe is the Black Land. Do not be fooled! For all other enemies are but subject to our greatest foe. Yea, even the Southrons are but the pawns of the greater evil of the Great Enemy.\"

\"Aye, I feared that much,\" Kadareth nods. \"Forgive me if I sound reckless in my desires, but sometimes I wish to meet those dark enemies once more. I have been left with a score to settle,\" Kadareth spits to the side.

Tamran slowly nods, \"It has only been a few months since we pushed back the Dark Ones forces back, I do not think they will attack during winter...But unpredictable they are...I remember some of the rumors we heard, stranged they seemed...\", his words trail off as he turns his gaze to the East.

\"Many hopes may wither yet in this bitter spring,\" says Boromir sternly. \"For though we come from a fair land, where there is little sign of the enemy save the Corsairs who dare not attack the Prince, we return to our own land and there shall the fate of the world be determined. Therefore, summon what courage you may, and follow me.\"

\"Cowards! That is all that they are. They attack undefended merchants and hide when our own ships set sail.\" Tamran says as he hears mention of the Corsairs.

Boromir smiles knowingly, \"Maybe sergeant. Time shall come soon enough for a reckoning with Umbar. A bold stroke.\"

The eyes of Boromir glitter.

Kadareth continues his ride north with Boromir\'s company. The men are invigorated from the night\'s rest and move along briskly, the ones behind chatting pleasantly between themselves as always. The ones to the front acknowledge the Captain General\'s presence with reverence and as such remain silent and listen to his conversation with Kadareth and Tamran.

Kadareth listens gloomily, \"The Corsairs are foul, indeed, but it is hard fighting them. They are evil, granted, but they have all the seeming of one of us. Quite unlike the like the Orcs, those twisted aberrations that I would rather crush under my boot rather than look at.\"

\"Umbar...Once greatest of the Cities of old, now no more then a symbol of the shadow.\" the words come out of Sergeant, his gaze looking far, as if lost in thought. Then turning to the Son of Denethor, Tamran adds, \"Long have I awaited for this, since they set foot on Pelargir, my lord.\"

\"Umbar is not my business,\" says Boromir softly. \"Not the wild mission of Indilzar shall I take up. Rather, mine is elsewhere.\"

\"They are Men soldier,\" says Boromir grimly to Kadareth. \"Corrupted indeed, but Men nonetheless.\"

\"Curious I am now of this mission...but I shall not ask for the details. When the time comes, I trust that I will be told.\" The sergeant simply says.

\"True enough,\" says Boromir. \"Yet curiousity is not the virtue of a soldier! We come now to Lossarnach. We have come far. Perhaps if you are willing, we shall do some training when we return?\"

The vale about you is called the Lossarnach, or Flowery Arnach. Where comes the name is really unknown though it stems not from Adunaic or a tongue spoken anymore. It is said to come from the Dean Countis, a race of men that lived here before the coming of the Numenoreans. It lays at the feet of the White Mountains and streches for some time to the side of the great River Anduin that flows strong at the east. The South road continues north towards the distant city of Minas Tirith and continues south to many small townships along the Anduin.

\"Fair enough,\" says Boromir. \"You and I shall practice then nigh the gates on the Pelennor. As to curiousity, what you say may be true, but in my experience, a soldier needs to obey, more than to seek out secrets. You should remember that when leading your own men.\"

Kadareth nods in assent at Boromir\'s advice, and merely listens as the two other men\'s conversation proceeds.

\"Always have I followed the orders given to me and always I will, but curious I still am at times. But you are right, a soldier has to know when there is a time to be curious and when not.\" The Sergeant speaks once more, \"Training before the Pelennor, that will be something new for me.\" a smile crosses his face as he looks before him at the approching Gate.

Boromir nods and says, \"To the Rammas!\"

Anorien: South Road - Rammas Gate

The river flow gently along at the east and the sounds of the river calm you as you walk. Towards the north you can see the walls of the Rammas Echor and the spires of both Mountain and city. The road goes gently southward and westward following the arch of the river towards the valley of Lossarnach.

The road has a good amount of travellers at this time but there is more traffic on the river than the road.

Obvious exits:

West leads to Anorien: Track.

Rammas Gate leads to Pelennor Fields: South Road.

South leads to Anorien: South Road - Lossarnach.

.

As the company enter the Rammas the guards by the gates give out a cry of greeting at the return of their captain and kinsmen from abroad. Boromir salutes them gravely. He asks for tidings but hears naught out of the ordinary.

\"I would be looking forward for the training, milord,\" Kadareth speaks. \"That a soldier can never have enough. Don\'t you agree, sergeant?\"

Tamran glances around, exchaging some words with some of the guards station here but his conversation is cut short as he turns towards Kadareth, answering back, \"Aye Kadareth, that is what I have said myself.\"

Boromir is now silent as he rides on, his eyes affixed to the distant white tower.

He then sighs as he glances at the rabbit warden. What thoughts he may have, he does not share it with his company.

Tamran glances quickly at Boromir, as he hears his sigh but says nothing. Turning his gaze back toward the distant tower, he rides on quietly.

There is a great cry from the city, as the glittering host of the city returns home. Boromir then says, \"Yonder is the Great Gate. We must go thither, then we shall stay outside of the city for a while for our practices.\"

\"As you command, my Lord.\" Tamran simply says, his gaze still upon the City of Stone. \"Truely a great sight...\" he says, almost a whisper.

Minas Tirith: Before the Great Gate

Rising up before and tapering off towards the great moutains behind them, a walls of Minas Tirith climb into the air. Here, at the roadside a small hill rises to the entryway of the city where guards stand before the gate. These men are known as the Doorwardens. Currently the gate is and the doors before it . The great Gate itself is housed between the two Doortowers before you, standing some 100 feet tall and nearly 50 feet wide. The gate to is made up of a pure steel bounded about the trunks of an unknown wood. The gate is said to able to withstand anything, as even the most strongest blows will just make the gate bend slightly and then return to shape.

Tamran dismounts from his horse, as the runner goes through the Great Gate, scroll in hand. Giving the reigns to a nearby stable boy, he turns his attention back to the Captain-General, \"Lead the way and I shall follow, my lord.\"

Boromir noes and says, \"We shall practice in the shadows of the walls. Come with me.\"

With a bow of his head, Tamran reaches the hilt of his sword and draws the Gondorian blade into the light.

Kadareth obeys the Captain General and pulls his sword from the scabbard. The shiny blade glistens in the dying daylight as he wields it aloft in his hands.

Boromir nods and then looks at the two, \"For a swordsman. What is the best quality?\"

\"Life?\" Kadareth hazards, a taunting smile on his face.
