Dol Amroth: Prince\'s Castle - Parlour(#2262Rn)

The dominating feature of the parlour is the large bay window set into the northern wall--in actuality three panes of flawless glass set into stone frames, looking out onto the Bay of Edhellond and the harbor of Dol Amroth below. The decor is muted--the omnipresent white stone, here hewn into an ovoid room, the long axis running east-west, with the same midnight blue carpet as the gallery beyond. Several sets of chairs, sofas, and small tables are placed about the room, each of dark wood with upholstered cushions that match the carpet. The walls hold maps by way of decoration--of Anorien, Ithilien of old, Belfalas, Lebennin, and even Calenardhon-that-was. Two are larger, upon the south wall flanking the doorway--illuminated maps of the city of Dol Amroth and of Old Umbar, ere it fell again into foul southron hands. A small cabinet set into the curve at the east end of the room contains various multicolored bottles and glasses to ease the tongues of those who converse here.

Light pours in through the ample windows, casting highlights on the silver lamps that rest on various tables, but making them little more than decoration.

The smell of pine permeates the parlour as the yule decorations are slowly being removed by the servants. A cool crisp afternoon finds the sister of Imrahil quietly reading in a plush chair in the parlour. Oblivious to the servants as they work on removing the decorations adorning the room, Ivriniel continues to read, raven head bowed in concentration. A smile of amusement curls the corners of her lips as her eyes rove the pages, a picture of serenity in repose.

Magoran appears from the hall, his feet taps the floor on his walk, and seem unaware to where he is. He walks as if he is full though and is disconnected from the real world, when suddenly a smell hits his nose and he \"wakes up\" to find himself in the room, looking quite shocked.

[Duramir(#23309)] Walking along the room a person is, in it`s back hangs a black cloak, as well as all it`s cloth, black and silver, in his cloak a different symbol, the symbol of ithilien

[Dania(#24237)] Standing quietly, the young woman is watching the progress of the servants as they handle the decorations and ensuring that nothing is amiss. Dania has been aware of the temper of her mistress these days and cares for nothing that would ever displeases her. She motions a servant to be gentle as the young lass seems to be tearing at a tapestry with a little too much of a force and settles down watching as two other figures appears.

The opening of the door allows a cold gust of air to blow into the room and catches the attention of the sister of Imrahil. Calmly, her silvery grey eyes rise from the tome that held her spellbound and she looks to the stranger with some interest. Finally Ivriniel doth inquire as his face looks a bit surprised, \"Are you perhaps in the wrong part of the citadel?\" A flicker of amusement doth curl her lips as she catches the motion of her Lady in Waiting. Another stranger in a black cloak brings the White Lady of Belfalas to full attention as she inquires, \"And you would be?\", the tome on her lap closed around a ribbon of blue to mark the page.

[Thorondur(#23126)]

The parlour doors open before the force of three young noblemen, clad in the finery of their station -- and the livery of Dol Amroth\'s famous Knights. Young Calladan, golden Erindil, and last the Lord Herald, fey Thorondur... reputed Elf-Friend.

Finding several other recent newcomers already before them, the knights pause -- but their hawkish glances search the room swiftly, unerringly. \"He\'s not about,\" says Calladan, voice somewhere between relief and apprehension.

[Magoran(#25572)] \"Yes lady, I think I am\" says Magoran in a respectful voice and silghtly bows, looking too shocked to move any more. \"Forgive me\" he continues in a weak voice and start looking nervesly around him.

[Elrebrilia(#22118)] One of the servants removes herself from the decorations and goes to Thorondur and his men\'s side, curtseying \"Milords, could I get anything for you? Tea? Brandy? Something to eat, perhaps?\"

[Thorondur(#23126)]

\"There\'s nothing else for it, then,\" snaps the Lord Thorondur to his pair of knights, bowing his head briefly in Ivriniel\'s direction. His eyes, sharp and sapphirine, blaze with a stern sense of purpose. \"The Lady Lauriel insists he\'s within the walls. We must find the madman ere he does any harm--\"

Cut off by the servant, the Lord Herald waves a hand in polite dismissal of the offer.

[Dania(#24237)] Sliding slighty behind the Princess, Dania eyes the newcomers. However she says nothing, and waiting for Ivriniel to stop talking she whispers softly, \"Do you wish me to remove the book, my Grace? Or to send the servants away perhaps?\" she ask, thinking that perhaps with these many people coming, it may disturb the peace of the lady.

[Elrebrilia(#22118)] The servant curtsies once more, \"Milord,\" then backs away and goes back to the decorations.

Gwaiandir opens the door carefully, quietly, and steps inside in one smooth motion. He stands still near the door but when noticed makes a courteous, graceful demi-bow.

[Duramir(#23309)] The one in black cloths turns and finnaly his face can be seen by the others , a young man, with blonde hair, and fair face. As the movement in the room gets bigger he turns and makes his way to the wall to check the maps he saw, the takes a short look and turns to everybody and tries to find someone he knows, the one who seems to be Dania

The arrival of the three Knights, brings a certain amount of pomp and circumstance to the relative quietness of the parlour. The Daughter of Adrahil glances to Throndur with a hint of reservation in her voice as she nods her own head in response to his greeting and then inquires, \"What or should I say -whom- are you looking for?\" The soft whisper of her Lady in Waiting is heard and Ivriniel turns to the young girl with a look of pleasure upon her face as she speaks kindly to the young woman, \"The book is fine my dear. Have you met the Knight Herald since your arrival?\" her hand motioning to the tallest and most handsome of the three Knights that entered.

[Gwaiandir(#16015)] When Gwair\'s eyes fall upon Ivriniel, they go to soft grey-green stars, but he does not move.

[Thorondur(#23126)]

A brief, wan smile crosses the Lord Herald\'s expression as the Princess singles him out. Turning his head to Sir Calladan, he speaks first to that worthy and Sir Erindil in clipped tones. \"Continue the search. If you find him, watch him, but do not threaten -- we\'ll let him make the first mistake. Understood?\"

The pair of loyal knights, resplendent in their livery of royal blue and silver, press hands to hearts in fervent salute. Then, silently, they depart about their business -- leaving the Lord Thorondur to deal with Ivriniel and the others. \"A delicate question, my lady,\" he answers her.

[Dania(#24237)] Nodding at the words of the princess, Dania takes a step back and straightens herself. She looks at the one mentioned by Ivriniel but shakes her head. \"Nay, my grace, I have not met him, even when it seems that I do recall seeing hie face,\" she says with a slight frown but smiles nevertheless at him and others that comes to catch her eyes save the servants. She turns to look at Ivrieniel again, and says nothing more, standing gravely behind her, listening.

A dark look passes across the brow of Ivriniel as her eyes hold the sapphire blue ones of the Knight Herald and inquires, \"Is this concerning the information we discussed in the privacy of my chambers Thorondur?\", a quiver of anger marking her voice. The soft, sweet voice of Dania again draws the gaze of the Princess from those in the room as she says, \"Then by all means, you must meet the Lord Girithlin\", her voice drops to barely a whisper as she adds, \"And I warn you before hand, he does love the ladies.\"

[Thorondur(#23126)]

\"An unfortunate rumour, a remnant of my carefree -- or careless -- youth,\" the Lord Thorondur dryly tells young Dania, seeming hardly the unscrupulous rake now. Rather a hard, lean man of solemn purpose, as his gaze returns unflinching to contest with Ivriniel\'s.

\"You know that it is, Your Grace,\" Thorondur says firmly, \"And the Lord NImothan will not disrupt the Prince\'s Tournament with his fits. I will not allow it.\"

Rising from her seat quickly, the tome upon her lap sliding across the cool white satin and almost falling before her hand snatches it, Ivriniel says sharply, \"Have there been -more- incidents Lord Girithlin?\" The concerned face of the Princess immediately lines with worry as she remarks, \"The Tournament is a much needed celebration and I would agree that -nothing- shall mar it.\" The voice of the sister of Imrahil again drops to a whisper as her footsteps draw her nearer to the three Knights, \"Surely you do not mean to imprison him whilst everyone is here.\"

[Thorondur(#23126)]

Calm, assured, steady as the stone at the mountains\' roots, Thorondur hir Girithlin keeps his level gaze locked with the eyes of the Princess. At her final question, and then only -- indeed, and that question only -- does he answer. \"If his actions warrant it,\" the Herald replies coolly.

As calm as the Knight Herald as he stands before her, Ivriniel looks into his eyes and says, \"You did not answer my first question. Have there been -more- incidents?\" The tall form of the sister of Imrahil stands proudly before Thorondur, the dignity of her position evident in her stance. The servants practically tiptoe around as they remove the last of the Yule festivities, the smell of pine strong as they glide past the Knight Captain and the Princess.

[Thorondur(#23126)]

\"Until I find him, and set a watch upon him, I cannot be certain,\" the Lord Girithlin, Knight-Herald, replies. His tone is stiff and formal, his manner almost regal his confidence in his duty seems unassailable.

Gwaiandir shifts his weight lightly once, his only obvious response to the tension in the room.

A sound bordering on a snort is heard as Ivriniel asks, \"A watch? Think long before you attack the character of the Lord Minister of Denethor. I cannot think of much worse than to bring the wrath of Denethor upon us all.\"

[Tiralyn(#3193)] Carried in the strong arms of a knight in shining armour, depressingly not /her/ valiant crusader, Tiralyn makes a rather grand appearance in the cradle of gracious strong limbs. She is set down at the window, looking out over the bay in a comfortable chair. She can be seen shaking her head and speaking to her newly found friend with a large grin upon her face. \"...Gweneth.... but... okay.. stay.... Thank you....\" She nods her head in lieu of a formal curtsy as he moves away from the fractured farm girl and finds a seat amongst the others in the room.

[Dania(#24237)] Listening quietly, finally the grave young woman speaks. \"I beg of your pardon upon this intrusion, milord, your grace,\" Dania nods her head towards the princess, braving the situation. Then she looks at the Knight-Herald with a slight smile, \"However, perhaps you may enlighten me of the matter, for after all, Lord Nimothan, is still a kin of mine,\" she tells him, calmly. Her gaze unabashed by the aura of the man. Yet she says nothing more, but to wait for his answer.

[Thorondur(#23126)]

\"I have weathered the wrath of the Steward before,\" Thorondur replies, voice cool as the winter now. His sapphirine eyes going icy, he adds with the faintest of smiles, \"One of his servants, however appointed, does not frighten me. One or all of his ministers -- I care not. Eh?\"

Now he tilts his head curiously to regard Dania, and says simply, \"The Lord Erinhaim Nimothan has, in the past, attacked me with naked steel in a fit of madness -- mistaking me for an Orc, no less. You can see I am no such thing,\" Thorondur quips wearily. \"I will have this... madman... do no ill at the Tourney. Forgive me, lass, if he is your kin. You have my sympathies.\"

[Dania(#24237)] At this reply the maiden\'s eyes ablaze with anger. \"A madman you call the lord of an significant house?\" she repeats, queitly \"Well, I apologize due to that misunderstanding, milord, that Lord Erinhaim had to attack you. And as you have said, he was simply mistaking you for an orc, and in the past nonetheless. But since you seem to deprive me and the Lady Ivriniel of the current occurances, I am dismissing that as your being ... loyal to your duty,\"

Her smile is wept away from her fair face as her eyes widened, nearly glaring at the Knight-Herald, \"So much as I care for the smooth occurance of the tournament, milord, I do not need your symphaties that Erinhaim is indeed, my kin,\"

Tiralyn brings a slender hand to her lips, to hide her dismay at the rather loud and informal Dania. Her back is to the crowd as she pulls out a small journal, bottle of ink and quill. She starts to scribble something about the fragile papers, keeping her attention on the tiny book and out upon the waters of the bay.

The actions of her Lady in Waiting bring a look of respect as Ivriniel quietly watches the interplay between her and the Lord Girithlin. One can not help to see a twinkling of amusement flash through her eyes before it is masked behind quiet reservation. The young girl injured in the town square draws the interest of the Princess as she notices her being settled in the parlour, but before she can walk to her side to speak, the voice of her Lady in Waiting rings out in anger. Quickly her head snaps back around and a quick sound is heard, \"Dania!\"

[Thorondur(#23126)]

\"It is quite difficult to mistake a man in the Prince\'s livery for an Orc, I assure you, my lady,\" Thorondur tells the girl coolly, his own eyes neutral and emotionlessly reflective. His words, without condescension or anger, convey nothing but the efficiency of a loyal liegeman. \"In particular, I have met many an Orc who calls out for his attacker to leave off, in the name of Gondor and Dol Amroth.\"

Only now does the faintest of sad smiles curl his lips. \"In the Elventongue, no less. My ladies, I bid you good day.\"

Ivriniel says, \"You have really had orcs speak in Elven tongue?\"

Gwaiandir continues to level his eyes at Thorondur, beyond the lady\'s rebuke.

[Dania(#24237)] The young woman bite her lower lip at this, cursing herself as she lost her composure. She hears the voice of the Princess and realises too late of the humiliation. \"I beg of your pardon once again then, milord, for my harsh words,\" she says finally looking up at Thorondur, \"I am young and perhaps I know naught of such matters,\" she replies and decides to leave it as that. She bows a little in front of him and walks towards Ivriniel, regaining her cool with each step, but feeling utterly ashamed of herself.

[Thorondur(#23126)]

Bowing his head in either acknowledgement, farewell, or both, the Lord Girithlin then turns and sweeps from the parlour.

The sister of Imrahil nods her head in acknowledgement of Lord Girithlin and then turns to Dania with a look of disappointment upon her face. Silent as she obviously gathers her thoughts, flickering emotions seen briefly before she says diplomatically, \'You are new to Dol Amroth and those in positions of power within. I fully empathize with your anger at the words spoken against your kinsmen...however, you -must- and I repeat must learn when to speak and when to hold your tongue.\" The voice of the Princess is all but a whisper so none may overhear her speaking to Dania and bring more embarassment.\"
