Dol Amroth

Some training between the Guards of Minas Tirith while in Dol Amroth for the Tournament (est date is 2000)

Krisorn comes walking out along the tournament grounds and spies Icarus standing by the side of the Lists. Krisorn\'s in a light mood, though walking a little stiffly from his fight with Galdorim. He walks towards the young guardsman and smiling says, \"Icarus! How are you this day?\"

Icarus turns around as he recognizes Krisorn\'s voice.\"It\'s been a good day, how was your day,friend?\" \"How does the recovery from the duel go?\"he adds with a smile.

Lodogran comes walking on then tournament ground, entering from the same directing as Krisorn, aproaching him by the back. Soflty he starts running, trying to catch up to him, a slight grin on his face. Taking large steps with nimble ease, avoiding all sound he walks over to Krisorn and Icarus, waving.

Krisorn laughs and says, \"Ahh the duel.\" He ruefully rubs the side of his head and sighs, \"It goes well enough though I\'m stiff as three day dead horse. I will recover though. It is more my pride than anything else that was injured. I won\'t be so easily taken down though when next I meet the Commander, I\'m sure. \"

Krisorn looks up to see Lodogran approaching him and Icarus. He shakes his head for a moment, grimacing, but the expression is quickly gone. \"Lodogran, good to see you today. Tell me, have you already fought in the lists or is that match in the future sometime?\"

Lodogran halts in his footsteps having reached the party. Then hearing Krison\'s message he starts to shuffle his foot on the ground, looking at the ground embarrased. \"Uh - no eh ... I didn\'t play yet ... uh you know ... I got to give you guys a chance ..\" he stammers.

Icarus waves at Lodogran as he sees him approch his position,\"How are you,old friend?\" Turning towards Krisorn he adds \"I think your pride will also recover. You didn\'t get beat by a novice, and it was pretty close.\"

Krisorn nods and says, \"True, the Commander is certainly quite a warrior. I wonder though whether the Knights realize just how good our weapon of choice is though. The fact that we fought against each other first means that they haven\'t had a chance to see the weapon wielded against one using their weapon of choice, the sword. And even when they do see it, it\'ll be the Commanders heavier handed style, not my own.\" Krisorn sighs a little and then shakes his head, \'It\'s too bad.\" He then turns towards Lodogran and says, \'Tell me Lodogran, are you interested in loosening up a little, a little wrestling perhaps to prepare you for your matches that are to come up soon?\"

Lodogran seeing a chance to recover from THAT embarrasement quickly nods as he draws his weapon, and unstraps his belt throwin it in the hay near him. \"I\'m in civilian clothes\" he commences, \"and I can\'t wrestle\" he then adds on. Then before continuing with his speech he waves his sword in front of Krisorn with much style, \"and i can\'t fight with a sword either but it\'s the best I can do\" he then ends with a sigh.

Krisorn chuckles and tosses aside his axe and his shield and helmet. He also takes off the tabard of the guard, revealing plain brown clothes beneath it. \"Excellet. That\'s the spirit Lodogran. We\'ll make a guardsman of you yet.\" Krisorn drops into a slightly awkward stance, light on his feet but not the best way to stand in order to handle a good opponent.

Lodogran Throws Bliskner his trusty longsword away, next to the rest of his equipment in the hay. Then he too unbuttons his shirt, carefully stripping it from his body, before throwing it next to the rest of his items. His body looks quite frail in comparission to that of Krisorn, but is obviously very nimble. Lodogran shuffles uneasily at Krisorn as he prepares himself in a fighting position. A bit mad because of Krisorn\'s comment, -Phuh, I\'ve been a guard longer than him and he\'s already running the show!-

Krisorn smiles slightly seeing Lodogran\'s bit of anger and he takes a step in as he speaks, \"Careful Lodogran, you can\'t let your enemy, be he an ally or somebody you must kill, nettle you. Ignore everything and anything I say child.\"

Icarus takes a few steps back as the two guardsman prepare to wrestle, making sure not to get hit. Looking and examining the two of them, he comes to the conclusion that Krisorn has the uper hand.

Krisorn thrusts out his left had trying to grab his smaller opponent and toss him over his hip, a difficult move at best, and Krisorn\'s execution is far from perfect.

You attack Lodogran with your Bare Hands...

[Combat(#13388)->Krisorn]

Your attack against Lodogran mildly wounds him!

Krisorn tosses Lodogran around for a few before the other Guardsman is called away on duty. Krisorn then turns, picking up his tabbard and gear and walks over, with Icarus, to a trough to wash off the worst of the dust and sweat from the match. \"Tell me Icarus, have you worked long with Lodogran? I\'ve not caught the mettle of him yet.\"

[Icarus(#30063)] \"I\'ve known him for sometime, I was on duty with him a few times. Give him some time and you\'ll understand him\"Icarus answers as Krisorn picks up his equipment.

Krisorn shakes his head sadly and says, \"I think I am starting to understand him but that doesn\'t make things any better. He certainly has little liking of me. Especially since I have only recently come to your ranks and yet I have known the Commander, and warfare longer than many of you have been in the guards. In truth I have known how to handle my axe longer than many of the veterans of the guard have been on the battlelines. It is a strange position I find myself in Icarus.\"

Icarus nods in agreement \"Well we didn\'t meet under the best circumstances and if I remeber correctly, Lodogran and you were almost t each others throats, it was a good thing a was standing between you two. It is a strange situation, but I think Lodogran is going to get used to it.\" \"I sure have.\"he adds with a smile

[Dolwyr(#19367)] Now a new silhouette comes walking on the tournament fields, empty at this part of the day, but soon to be filled by contestants and spectators of all sorts. The man is dressed in a long azur coat and walks with a long staff in his right hand. As he gets near the two talking Gondorian, he says with a smile \"Good day to you both, milords... I couldn\'t help but overhear parts of your conversation... you were talking about Lodogran, isn\'t it? It seems like the man is famous all the way from Dol Amroth to the Misties...\"

Icarus turns and greats the new arrival \"Milord? Harldy, I am Icarus, son of Houdrim, a Guard from Minas Tirith and this Krisorn.\"he answers. \"And who might you be, I don\'t believe we have met before.\"

Krisorn laughs hearing Dolwyr\'s statement and says, \"Well my friend it seems you know him well. I am Krisorn, a guardsman of the city of Minas Tirith. And certainly no lord.\"

Dolwyr bows slightly \"And I am Dolwyr, son of Jormund, of Rohan\" he now turns to Icarus \"and no, I don\'t think we have met before..\" he now pauses, and adds \"Yes, Lodogran, I know him well... we fought against orcs and wargs together, not so long ago... I saved his life and...\" he chuckles and tries to restrain a smile \"and I tried to save his sentimental life, too.\"

Krisorn chuckles and says, \"I am glad to hear that. My first encounter with him was during a, \"Krisorn coughs slightly and blushes, \"disturbance back in our home of Minas Tirith. He seems to be a valiant fighter indeed but has yet to learn that the sword can not solve all problems, in fact it can\'t solve most problems. And he has taken a disliking to my lack of, um. Decorum shall we say. I must admit I\'m not used to this soldierly chain of command and all.\"

Icarus grins at Dolwyr \"Well met Dolwyr, son of Jormund.\" looking at Krisorn he smiles as he hears him mention the riot \"I remember that event well\". Turning back to Dolwyr he adds with a laugh \"So you are the one that I should think for giving me the /chance/ to have all this duties with him.\"

[Dolwyr(#19367)] \"I\'m not in the military either\" answers Dolwyr to Krisorn \"And Lodogran has much to learn from the way od the sword... I had to pull him off the battlefield, because he was caught in a situation he couldn\'t handle... by trying to prove his bravery, he proved only his lack of training\" he shakes his head slightly, but smiles at Icarus\' words \"Oh, yeah, I\'m one of the *numerous* ones you should thank for saving his life\" he chuckles again \"but he is good at heart, and strong willed. In time, he will become a good warrior. And someday, he might understand that experience is more valuable, and he will learn to listen to the elders more than he listens to his superiors\" he now lifts his head and looks at the skies above \"If only he would just listen a little less to his heart and to that lady Gwendolyn...\"

Krisorn smiles slightly and says, \'Oh until the Steward, took a disliking to my overly loud opposition to his decrees and um.. drafted me, I too was not part of the military. Now i find myself a conscript in the guard and it is hard not to want to show these youngsters that a sharp sword is not the answer and that bravery doesn\'t mean facing insurmountable odds with a deathwish for no reason. And as for the ladies. Few men ever learn how to listen to the good ones and how to tell the good from the bad. I can not fault him terribly there I\'m afraid but I do hope that he will learn to reign in his passions or they will run away from him and get him into something that nobody can get him out of.\"

[Dolwyr(#19367)] \"Wise words, Krisorn\" simply says Dolwyr \"I fear I must now take my leave. I don\'t have much time to prepare my mare for todays\' contest... I hope we will meet again.\"

The days lights glitter off of the silver embroidery on Krisorn\'s black Tabbard. The insignia of the Minas Tirith guard showing up brightly against the black material. Krisorn himself looks out of place as he sits to one side, chewing idly on a piece of grass, watching the people of Dol Amroth that are still out amongst the Tourney Grounds. Many of the people and even the Men-at-arms of the city look strangly at his insignia, and even more oddly at his weapon of choice, the plain woodsman\'s axe that seems more suited to chopping wood than combat. Krisor himself looks happy enough and well recovered after his bout with Galdorim several days ago.

[Gweneth(#17847)] A young woman, appearing to be perhaps the daughter of a rich merchant, strides across the grounds. She eyes the people of the games and contests with a curious eye, her arms crossed over her cotton shirt. Her long hair hangs in a braided ponytail hanging nearly to her legs, swaying softly with each step she takes. She stops with Krisorn to her side and examines the grounds with a deeper detail, seemingly not to be taking notice of the young man near her side.

Krisorn looks up at the young woman before him, his eyes taking in the details of her garb for a moment and smiling slightly, and shaking his head, for the sight is certainly a very nice one. He notes though the condition of the clothing and his eyes close a little bit as if thinking about something. He certainly seems intrigued by the young woman, her confidence and bearing at odds with her simple dress.

[Gweneth(#17847)] The woman purses her lips at the view of the ground then glances to her side, noticing the guardsman looking at her. She turns to face him, examing him as obviously as he was to her, \"You any good?\" she asks with the slight accent of one who lives in the countryside.

Krisorn looks up at Gweneth with a smile. He pulls his legs back under him and then stands, slowly. His voice, when he speaks is of somebody more used to the woods than the city, \"Aye. Not good enough to beat Commander Galdorim regularly. But good enough to defend myself.\" He looks at her closely and then bows slightly, \"I am called Krisorn, newly minted guard of the city of Minas Tirith.\"

Gweneth sticks out her hand to shake Kirsorn\'s, \"Maeywen, merchant of Gondor,\" she says with mock pride. She turns back to the ground, nodding towards the crowds, \"There\'s a lot of people \'er and I\'m hoping they all want to buy something.\" A wry smirk forms on her lips, \"But this whole fighting thing is so absurdly,\" she chuckles slightly, \"Nevermind. I\'ll wear out my welcome before it\'s even been given.\" She turns back to face the Gaurd, \"Newly minted you say? Why the guard?\"

Krisorn laughs and says, \'Oh the folks\'ll want to buy something for sure. But they are here to watch the fighting as much as anything. It has it\'s purpose you know, though most would see it as merely a bunch of men trying to prove who\'s better than the other by beating each other over the head. It\'s not quite that simple I\'m afraid, but it\'s best if most people think of it in such terms.\" Krisorn seems to consider the rest of her words for a moment before answering. He looks off towards the crowds and towards the lists before turning back to the young woman before him, \"As for the guard, the choice is not mine I\'m afraid. Never was though I won\'t say nay against the words that brought me here. It was my own fault for not controlling my anger better and for speaking when I should have remained silent.\" Krisorn looks a bit embarassed and then sighs, a slight shrug of the shoulders as he concedes to the past, \"But I don\'t think I would have done things differently if I had known the outcome of it. And in truth there is some good in having me where I am I\'m sure. I\'m going to make the most of it anyway.\"

[Gweneth(#17847)] The couple walks into the tavern to be greeted by the pleasent sounds of music and voices talking with one another. Gweneth walks towards the bar and takes a seat. The Bartender smiles as he sees her and nods, \"Hello mi...\" She gives him a quick glances and he finiesh, \"Mamam, what can I get for the two of you?\" She replies, \"Ale,\" then looks to Krisorn.

Krisorn holds the door to the Kraken open for Gweneth, waiting for her to enter first into the tavern. He takes a quick look around himself as if to check for anybody he might know. Not surprisingly there are no other guards here though and he shrugs, letting the young woman lead. He follows her easily and nods to the bartender as they approach. He looks at the Bartender closely and then glances again at Gweneth, as he stumbles. Krisorn shrugs slighty and then says, \"Ale also if you don\'t mind.\" Curiosity is very evident in his face though.

[Gweneth(#17847)] The barkeep serves them up both a mug of ale, which Gweneth takes and sips slowly. She leans back in the high stool and turns to Krisorn, \"So, ySo, not thieving and not women, then what?\"

Krisorn smiles lightly and drinks a long draught off of his ale and then turns back to Gweneth, \"Ale.\" he says lightly, with laughter in his voice. \"It\'s a very important item for men in my chosen profession.\"

Gweneth grins, \"Ah, I think your comment is more than just a opinion on the drink.\" She smiles as her mind works, putting pieces together, \"You and the steward good friends these days?\" She asks sarcastically.

Krisorn looks at his cup, his face cloudly briefly and then it clears, \"The steward is a very wise man and while I may not agree always with his decisions, or the reasons for them I have not his years, nor his experience, nor his wisdom in such matters. And the law is his to decree as he will.\" Krisorn takes another drink of his ale and looks over at Gweneth, his eyes betraying his own curiousity about this very observant young woman. He seems to make a decision about something and puts the Ale down for a moment, \"I did not agree with the manner the laws and decrees were carried out and it seems that my actions were not appreciated though he certainly was merciful since he could have easily had me hung for what I was charged with.\"

Gweneth shrugs slightly, reaching for her ale, \"It is the sign of a great leader in one who questions authority than who follows blindly. When one believes without doubt, there is stagnation and the mind shrinks like an unused arm,\" she pauses as she saying too much and hurriedly sips her drink. She sets it back down and says, \"My father was always preaching stuff like that to me.\" She smiles, \"Eh, I wouldn\'t worry about it too much. Don\'t change too much and you should go far enough in life to get by, maybe even enjoy it.\"

Krisorn smiles slighlty, leaning back as he picks up his ale again. He looks at Gweneth and nods, though there is the tone that he doesn\'t quite believe Gweneth\'s talk of her father speaking those words to her. They flow too smoothly to not be her own, or at the very least not be something she doesn\'t understand well and believes, \"Aye, you sound very much like Commander Galdorim does. A finer soldier I doubt you will find in the Guard and a true comrade. Always trying to get us young recruits to think a bit and to understand the orders so we also understand when not to over reach them and when to take initiative.\" Krisorns voice has lightened a great deal and for the moment he seems a good deal younger than he did when he first met Gweneth. His stance is not quite so dangerous, less that of a trained guard and more that of a raw recruit. \"But for now I guess I\'ll just muddle through and obey the orders more than anything else and try not to screw it up too badly. As for enjoying life. How can one not enjoy life at least a little when you have a beautiful young woman and a drink of ale to keep you company. There will be other lists and I may yet beat the Commander, and may yet be promoted. Tell me, what is it you brought with you to sell Maeywen?\"

[Gweneth(#17847)] A near giggle escapes from Gweneth\'s lips, \"Young?\" Again she chuckles, \"It would seem the Commander has at least recruited a blind guard or a lier.\" She winks and takes a small sip of her drink, \"As for my wares, I sell items of great craftsmanship and skill. I\'ve found that if you sell to the rich, you tend to become rich, or at least, as close as I\'ll ever become. Boxes, daggers, jewerly, random things really.\" She grins with a twinkle in her eye, \"But all are quite expensive.\"

Krisorn smiles slightly and finishing off his ale says, \"Neither blind, nor a liar. Young is in the ability to laugh and smile as much as in the gifts of years.\" Krisorn looks into his cup for a moment before admitting, \"Though, you have years of wisdom beyond what your looks proclaim you to be.\" Krisorn smiles and says, \"And as for your sales, I certainly hope they are doing well for your method certainly seems to be quite well thoughout. Much lighter than the bulk goods many must carry and sell, and items that would interest those with money to spare for such trinkets. It is too bad though for I am afraid I wouldn\'t know what would sell to such people for my interest has always lain with those things that are well made instead of richly inlaid. Quality if you will before mere good looks.\"

Gweneth grins back, \"I aim for both, but in the end, whatever it takes to make the customer happy and me fed.\" She glances towards the door, then the window, \"I was hoping to run out in the the fields and go hawking before dark, it does not appear that I will make it.\" She lets out a wistful sigh, \"Oh well, another night alone in my room.\" She grins at Krisorn, \"But not until I\'m finished speaking with my new friend.\" She takes another small sip from her drink, \"So, if the steward and you hadn\'t had a falling out, what would you like to be doing?\"

Krisorn looks at Gweneth something about her words seem to interest him. He shrugs slightly and with a smile says, \"Oh I\'m quite sure, m\'lady, that I would be happily chopping wood and purchasing supplies back home. Woods are what I know best and while I can stand beside my comrades in arms I do not know how long it will be before i anger some noble with my words. I am not really all that good at being diplomatic shall we say.\"

Gweneth chuckles, \"Most nobles are far far //far// from being diplomatic. Most care about little other than their own concerns.\" She shrugs, \"I think their overrated. Though, it must be nice.\"

Krisorn smiles slighlty and says, \"Ahh, that may be true but it is not for a commoner such as myself, a convicted criminal no less, to speak against them.\" Krisorn smiles slightly, looking at the woman before him and says, \"Though I would guess you have more knowledge of them than I do. Selling to them as you do. And the words I have heard of Prince Imrahil have been nothing but praiseworthy so there are some, at the very least, who are worthy of the titles accorded them. \"

Charystra enters quietly, her skirts making little sound. She\'s cloaked, her face hidden from view for the moment, yet the harp carried in her hands can barely be mistaken for anything but what it is

Gweneth shrugs, \"Perhaps. I just do business with them... and,\" she grins again, \"Rarely anything else.\" She waves towards the barkeep to take her half finished glass. She let\'s out a sigh, \"I\'ve tasted much better,\" the Barkeep gives her a sidelong frown but says nothing, \"I think I\'ll give up for the night. What a wasted day,\" she shakes her head and says to herself, \"You gotta stop having those,\" she stretches her arms over her head and yawns, her back arching. She regains her posture and glances towards the door as the cloaked figure enters. She eyes the harp hesitantly then looks to Krisorn, \"So, I think I am off for the night, it was a pleasure having the drink with you.\"

Charystra\'s voice is quiet, drifting from beneath her cloak, \"Have a fair evening Chamberlain.\" soft laughter follows as the figure, and it must be a lady, sets down her harp upon a table

Krisorn watches Gweneth, fully noticing her stretching, though also noting the bartenders face. Krisorn grins and says, \"I thank you for the drink and a day where one meets a new face is seldom a wasted day. I look forward to seeing you again and should you have need of me you may enquire amongst the Guardsmen of Minas Tirith. My name is known, and the Commander can find me easily enough. I must head off myself for I shall be called to duty soon enough. How might I contact you, if i need to.\"

[Gweneth(#17847)] A wicked smile curves onto Gweneth\'s lips, \"I\'m around.\" She nods to Charystra, \"Good eve to you as well, Lady Charystra.\" She nods to Charystra then stands and walks towards the door, glancing back once, the same devious grin on her lips, before disappearing into the doorway.

Krisorn glances towards Charystra, noticing the Lady Chancellor and then frowns slightly, her words suddenly penetrating and before Krisorn can realize that Gweneth has responded to them she has left. Krisorn sits like a man struck with anvil.

Charystra laughs softly and grins as she slips back her hood. Her features are unmistablable, yet she wears simple clothing, velvet yes but cut in the manner of commoners

Krisorn looks over at the Lady Charystra as he gets his composure back, shooting a swift glance at the bartender before turning back the Charystra. \"Good evening m\'lady. I gather you know the lady I was speaking with. I had not realized her name or her title. She hadn\'t mentioned them. Though I am quite sure you realized that from my expression.\"

Charystra laughs softly, \"Indeed indeed...yet we all go ingonito sometimes. Tis easier to avoid the noble fops then.\" she laughs simply and smiles, \"And the lady Gweneth is a friend of mine.\"

Krisorn shakes his head, a sad smile upon his face, rueful as well, \"Ahh well it is indeed well done then for I would have been hard pressed to associate the description of the Lady Gweneth with having met her. She is certainly a more vibrant woman than one would expect from all of her high titles and lineage. I spoke truly though when I said I had to be back to the barracks for duty soon. If you will excuse my rudeness for not staying longer, m\'lady.\" Krisorn bows slightly as he leaves.

Charystra nods and laughs softly, \"Tis alright, have thee a safe night and do pursue friendship with Gwen, she tis a wonderful lass.\"
