A log of the fight before the Gates of Minas Tirith (est date 2000)

Please note that this log was done by Rorgan

Riding through the night like the wind came a lone figure. The trap was laid and waiting. Three men emerged from the night to face the unseated rider, but the tall man with his close-cropped blonde hair came to his feet ready for the bloodshed that is sure to follow.

\"Only two?\" Rorgan asks at first, before the third man shows himself, axe in hand. The third man replies, \"Ah, it is you who foiled my plans in Rohan.\"

Rorgan replies, \"Ah, three, then. A fair fight.\" The warrior-tailor smiles -- a tooth-baring grin that wrinkles his face into a fearsome visage. \"Tell me who pulls your strings and I promise I will kill you quickly. You will die with no pain. Tell me naught, and I will take you a joint at a time.\"

Fast does the former tailor move then, as his words are still hanging in the air, the point of his sword is grounded, and he goes to one knee. The dagger in his boot is withdrawn and flash of starlight on silver, it makes an arrow\'s path for the throat of the man who held the left side of the rope. Then the sword is back in his right hand, and the dagger from his belt in his left as his weight shifts forward onto the balls of his feet.

Let the dance begin.

[Wethas(#28685)] Smiling through ruined teeth, Wethas holds his longsword before him like a blind man\'s cane, his dirty tunic hanging over his heavy paunch. He begins to speak, then suddenly is silent as Rorgan\'s sudden motion takes him by surprise.

He flails quickly at the flying steel as it whizzes past his ear to catch in the throat of his comrade, a throaty gurgle falling on his ears as he crouches into a defensive position, circling the lone warrior more warily now, waiting to take advantage of their still superior numbers. He feints at the taller man weakly, testing his reach, keeping well clear of that keen weapon.

[Cloaked_figure(#22020)] The Cloaked figure pulls back his hood to reveal a man in the uniform of the Silver guard of the merchant\'s guild. \"That information will not go out so easily. You will most likely run away like the coward your are!\" He grips his axe firmly as he advances quickly. \"Youw ill not take me by surprise this time, tailor!\" He raises his large axe and sends it plummeting towards the warrior-tailor\'s inflated head.

[Kylin(#29761)] Running as hard as he can, Kylin follows the sounds in the night. Then as the scene before him comes in to view, a shocked look crosses his features as he fumbles for his sword hilt. Slidding to a stop in the dirt his sword finaly clears the scabbord.

The light feint pushed away at dagger-point, the tailor moves his spindly frame lightly away from the large man\'s axe blow, pushing his own sword out, backhand, to rake it along the extended arm of the axe man. Then another step away, and another, his long legs seeking to place the weaker looking opponent between himself and the axe-wielding guardsman. \"I\'ll have that uniform back, brigand,\" says the tailor to the banished Silver Guardsman, leaning his still-grinnning face around the second of his assailants. \"And your head I shall deliver to the noble Lady Elowyn. Then your hands shall go to the Steward, like the hands of all theives. And Commander Galdorim shall get the best part, for he shall finally have your heart.\"

[Thorgorin(#30040)]

Dirty and smelly, the dark bandit lifts up his spear. It has a large sharp end to it... but it is only a piece of wood compared to the elaborate longsword of the Citadel Guards. He uses it to keep his enemies distant, and is careful not to lift the stake too close to Kylin\'s weapon.

Thorgorin the bandit smiles like he always does when attacking his prey. He circles his opponent, retreating whenever possible and advancing only when opportunity allows.

\"Die, Filth.\", says the bandit, eyeing his enemy up and down.

[Wethas(#28685)] Wheezing already, Wethas darts in to jab at Rorgan, then stumbles back quickly, his eyes watching the swinging arc of the Guard\'s sword carefully as he nearly stumbles in his haste to avoid it once more.

He mvoes further to Rorgan\'s left, trying to sneak behind him as his comrades assault him more valiantly.

Cloaked_figure pulls his axe in the path of rogan\'s sword. The blade bits lightly into the hardened haft of the axe. He grins broadly as he sees the tall tailor retreat. \"Big words of someone who\'s best skilled with a needle and thread!\" He tries to keep up with the long strides of Rorgan. \"We could of had your Commander Galdorim dead of that foolish guard, Lodogran had not got a conscious!\" He then makes an extended sweep towards the legs of the blonde-haired scout.

\"Ah, fat man, I hear you wheezing!\" cries Rorgan as the man moves to his left, and he hops lightly over the axe-blow aimed at his legs, \"I think I shall gut you and leave you for the carrion birds. Perhaps hamstrung, too, would do the trick -- then all you would be able to do is scream as they devour your flesh!\" And suddenly the tailor turns, moving to swing his sword as his words have marked -- straight for the gut of Wethas -- but even he expects the bumbling fat man to block this blow. It is the dagger in his other hand that holds the true threat as it darts toward the man\'s underarm and the vital veins there.

[Kylin(#29761)] With his chest rising from his running and finding himself in the middle of a fight, Kylin attempts to keep his emotions in check. First glancing at Rorgan then at the bandit before him, Kylin brings his sword to the defense. With out a word or wink of his eye, he quickly slashes at the pike now pointed at him. As he does so, a quick step to his left keeps the circling bandit in front of him.

[Thorgorin(#30040)]

Thorgorin bends his head down and yells a long war cry at the guard. When this fails to impress him, the raider turns to insults and threats. The man is not used to facing such a steadfast opponent. He tries his war cry again.

\"ARRRRRRR!\"

Confused, the bandit circles his opponent again. Surely, the guard should have fled by now?!!

[Wethas(#28685)] Falling to the ground and rolling away swiftly, Wethas waves his longsword in front of himself frantically, keeping the longsword from catching him, the dagger unable to reach him fortunately in his blind terror. He crawls further away as Thorgorin and the Cloaked Figure keep Rorgan busy, and rises shakily to his feet, holding his longsword as if it were a snake as he stumbles forward once more, his face pale and gleaming with sweat, his rasping almost a bleating now.

He jabs weakly at Rorgan, staying well clear of sword and dagger.

[Cloaked_figure(#22020)] As Rorgan concentrates his attack on his lacky, The cloaked-Figure kicks his foot out at the back of Rorgan\'s knee as he sends his axe towards the dagger arm. He laughs deeply. \"Idle threats of a half-blood! You should of stayed with the horse loving riders in the north and not get messed up in our plan!\"

Kylin looks strangly at the man before him yelling, a sly grin comes to him \"So you cannot fight and wish to scare me away?\" Lunging forward, his sword brought to the back hand he moves into the fight, the tip of his blade tipping upward slightly aiming for the mans arm.

[Thorgorin(#30040)]

The bandit looks awestruck at his makeshift polearm. What was one a spear is now a stick as the longsword of the Minas Tirith guard slices the spear in two.

\"You will die for that rat!\"

Thorgorin doesn\'t seem to grasp the severity of his situation. He is standing in front of a fully armored man with nothing more than a skewer to defend himself. Obviously, this raider is used to battling much less formidable oppenents. One wonders if all he had relied on was fear to scare enemies away.

Chock! Chock! Chock! The longsword of Rorgan bites the earth thrice as the fat man rolls away from him. By some stroke of luck the foot blow misses his leg, but the axe bites into his left arm with a grinding noise of that sickening tone that would tell an experienced warrior that mail has been rent. In the darkness it would be hard to tell whether or not the yell that breaks forth from the warrior-tailor\'s mouth as he whirls on the axe-man is a cry of pain, rage, or simply the tactic of a cagy veteran. Certainly the movements of Rorgan\'s sword would indicate the latter as they meet with the axe several times in loud thrashing blows before the tailor makes another sudden change in direction, and spinning lightly from foot to foot seeks out the backs of the axeman\'s legs with the long sharp steel in his uninjured hand.

[Wethas(#28685)] Gaining courage of a sort from the cries of Rorgan, Wethas advances warily and aims a slash with two hands at his left side, dodging again.....or at least as much as his waddling physique permits....as the longsword passes over his head by chance, his eyes wide.

Catching the look of disgust on the face of the Cloaked Figure, Wethas pales further, and rises out of his crouch, his longsword held well in front of him as he begins to slash at Rorgan timidly, but with more zeal than previously.

[Kylin(#29761)] Continuing to press his attack, Kylin stops the swing of his longsword to keep it between himself and the man before him. Stepping forward again, looking at the now shorter piece of wood the man holds \"Well such a weapon you now have...\" he brings his sword in another swing to strike at the mans legs.

[Cloaked_figure(#22020)] A howl of pain emits from the silver guard\'s mouth as Rorgan\'s sword bites into the back of this thigh. Most of the blow is taken with the chain mail armor this bandit wears. He most with a noticable limb now as he angerly swings his heavy ace towards the face of the sewing scout. \"I will have you head on a pike to show none to resist us! Then we will take over the guard! We already have...\" He stops as he realizes he is letting his anger get the best of him.

[Thorgorin(#30040)]

The bandit steps back... but not quickly enough. The man screams as the blade slices through his skin. A small trickle of blood comes from his kneecap... the attack has made him angry more than anything. Suddenly, he uses the remains of his weapon and launches a trecherous blow at the warrior\'s lower body. \"ARRRRR!\", screams Thorgorin.

His attack lands right between Kylin\'s legs.

The blade of Wethas passes wide of the ever-moving target that is Rorgan, and again he reverses his field, causing the blow from the banished Silver Guardsman to fly wide as Rorgan\'s own sword smacks the extended blade of Wethas in a flurry of distracting blows before he again side-steps and drives the point of his sword for the ample flesh of the fat man. The softness just above the man\'s hip bone is the target of the former tailor\'s blade this time. Words have come back to Rorgan now, and he replies, \"Now who is the braggart?\" His feet carry him further \'round the fat man, though, again placing the considerable bulk between himself and the axe man.

[Kylin(#29761)] With eyes wide open as the fool attacks him so, Kylin lets down his gaurd for a moment. Then, regaining his thoughts, he brings his sword hilt down at the mans head as he comes into close for a swing. He quickly steps back to gain the ground from the man, but a grimace shows that the wooden pole did tear into his inner thigh.

[Wethas(#28685)] Flailing wildly, Wethas does his best to counter the flurry of assaults with his longsword, his portly figure stumbling as he tries to move away from the Cloaked Figure\'s axe as much as from the Guard\'s longsword. He grunts as Rorgan\'s blade scores his tunic, the mail beneath cutting into his belly, preventing the tip from disembowelling him though.

He puffs and pants now in earnest as he continues to flail helplessly, fear offering him more energy and detracting little from his inconsiderable skill with the longsword. He slashes wildly at Rorgan\'s shoulder as he again tries to move out of the way of the larger man\'s axe, little trusting that the Cloaked Figure will worry overmuch if he shortens Wethas by a head.

[Thorgorin(#30040)]

The raider is tired, and is breathing heavily. Clearly this is a man that does not get much exercise... except maybe his throat. He continues to scream at the Kylin and the air in general.

Thorgorin moves his head quickly to the left as the blade comes down on him. Again, not quickly enough. The sword tears through part of the man\'s left shoulder, streaming blood coming from his arm.

The bandit screams defenceless.

\"Sandaerus! Help me!\", he says to the cloaked figure.

Cloaked_figure growls with displeasure as Wethas\' fat bulk gets in his way. He tries to shove him aside. \"Get out of my way you fat fool!\" He looks towards Rorgan as his eyes flash with anger. He glances towards Thorgorin and barks at him angerly. \"Hold your tongue fool!\" He then lunges towards Rorgan as he tries to drive the spiked tip of his axe at the thigh of Rorgan

\"Worried about your head, eh?\" Rorgan asks the fat man, still dancing to keep the better skilled of the two opponents on the opposite side of the rotundity before him, Rorgan\'s blade now feints for Wethas\' face, then suddenly dips down low, aiming for the man\'s legs.

To the axe man Rorgan says, \"And that mail is the property of the Sovereign Realm of Gondor. I\'ll have that back as well.\" Still does the visage of Rorgan twist into an unseemly grin, \"Unless you still think your plan to take over the guard will succeed. Pah! You\'re no strategist. You have no idea if it\'s a good plan or bad. Your master is notorious for wasting his best men in daring feats of futility, Sandaerus. You can still make the right choice.\" His thigh easily clears out of the way, though, and Rorgan dances closer to Thorgorin and Kylin, now speaking to his companion, \"You fare well, brother. Perhaps you\'d be so kind as to finish him and take the fat one off my hands.\"

[Wethas(#28685)] Goggling as the dancing point of Rorgan\'s longsword appears suddenly in his face, Wethas ducks again and falls to the ground, starting to crawl away once more, then squealing shrilly as the longsword slashes across his broad anterior, cutting shallowly into the flesh. He whimpers as he rises again to his feet, feeling the blood warm against his flesh and stands to the side, once more weakly parrying the sword as Rorgan slashes out at him between his attacks against the Cloaked Figure.

Kylin sees that his sword has cut into the man\'s shoulder. Stoping his movements he brings his sword from his left, aiming at the assalant\'s head. Then at the last moment, he twists his wrists slightly to bring not the edge in play, but the flat of the blade.

[Thorgorin(#30040)]

\"ARRRRRR!!!\", says Thorgorin in a final attempt to scare off his attacker. As the flat of the blade rushes to his head, the bandit continues screaming.

\"You will die for this filth!\" He really has a limited vocabulary. The longsword hits his head, knocking him unconcious.

Sandaerus moves quickly around the crawling fat guard\'s large frame. He sweeps his axe down low as he tries to snap the blade of the axe towards the back to Rorgan\'s legs. \"This armor was issued to me by the Minas Tirith guard. I have every right to wear it. I have looted and robbed many people wearing it.\" He laughs tauntingly as he tries to maim rorgan.

[Kylin(#29761)] Eyes wide as the man falls before him, Kylin is almost unsure of what to do. He looks at his blade for a moment before hearing the fight continuing at his back. Turning he sees Rorgan still fighting and begins to run to his aid. Until the second step when the pain that was forgotten now bubbles up from his leg. But still he makes his way to his fellow Scout to give what aid he can.

As the bandit falls to the ground, Rorgan finds new energy and a new focus -- Sandaerus. His sword flashes down and intercepts the handle of the axe, gaining him the time needed to move clear of the blow yet again. Rorgan\'s smile widens, \"Ah, Sandaerus, need I remind you that you are under sentence of death for attacking a noble and myself?\" Rorgan now chuckles slightly, bringing his sword up in a high arc, glowing with the light of the stars overhead as it comes sailing down, ever so telegraphed, toward the top of Sandaerus\' head. His left arm now swings back into play, from where he has been leaving it hang at his side, dagger still in hand, it arcs upward from waist-level, sharp point darting toward the thin opening in the armpit that allows one to raise one\'s chain-protected arms above one\'s head. Should the axeman parry the obvious blow, a heavy price may yet be paid.

[Wethas(#28685)] Watching the sweeping weapons of Sandaerus and Rorgan, Wethas steps back a pace, his eyes turning to the hedge beside the road.

[Sandaerus(#22020)] Being a skilled warrior, Sandaerus, punches his shield into the crooks of Rorgan\'s dagger arm and swipes away the telegraphed blow of his lightly bloodied sword. He grins in the face of Rorgan as he tries to send his knee into the gut of his opponent. \"That is if I am caught. I plan on disposing your and your noble friend\'s body in the Anduin to be washed away witht he rest of the filth!\"

\"Pah! Lady Elowyn is no friend of mine.\" The blades of Rorgan continue their intricate dance all around the axeman, met at every turn as the two finally meet in more singlular combat. Finally, Rorgan simply takes two steps back and lowers his weapons, \"If you think you\'re man enough to kill me, go ahead and do it. This is your only chance.\"

Kylin continues to make his way to his fellow Scout\'s aid. Looking first at the retreating fat one, then at the one that continues to fight his mind is made up. As the distance between them and himself seems to not close up very quickly he lets loose with a yell attempting to distract Rorgan\'s opponent.

[Wethas(#28685)] Casting one more glance at Sandaerus, and noting the balefully withering look of loathing, Wethas makes one more half hearted feint at Rorgan, then turns and runs as quick as his stout legs will carry him for the safety of the great hedge bordering the road.

With a shriek he dives into the hedge, then there is a dull thud and oaths rise from beyond the hedge, counterpointed by heavy boots thudding away swiftly.

Wethas has left.

[Sandaerus(#22020)] Glancing at the unconscious body of one of his thugs and the fleeing form of his other, Sandaerus takes a step back and moves to flee in the opposite direction. He moves quickly for someone whos thigh is slightly wounded, but he runs for all it\'s worth. \"You have not seen the last of me, Rorgan. Thank Argamir for his information he will be paid rather well!\"

Shaking his head as the larger man has obviously gotten enough of a jump not to be caught, at least not at night, Rorgan yells out into the night, \"Sandaerus, you are a dead man and a servant of the Nameless One! Rest not your legs until you are clear of Gondor \'ere you dangle from the gallows!\"

Then turning toward the younger scout, Rorgan says, \"You fought well, my boy. Now see to that unconscious man, and see to it that he is brought to Minas Tirith /alive/ for questioning. Doubtful that he knows anything, but we shall make the effort nonetheless.\" Rorgan\'s weapons are resheathed, and as he replaces the dagger in its sheath, the dark stain of blood can be seen upon his left hand. He walks over to a second crumpled form, \"Guess there were four of them,\" he mutters as he retrieves the dagger from that man\'s neck and wipes it clean on the man\'s stained and tattered clothes. His own wounds seemingly forgotten, Rorgan places two fingers to his lips and whistles shrilly. It is but a moment before the great chestnut stallion, Ardanne, can be heard approaching through the darkness.

Kylin gains the distance and comes close to Rorgan as he watches the man runs away. Between gasp for air \"Rorgan?\" Looking back at the man who brought him to the Scouts and nods \"Aye, it shall be done as you say.\" Then taking a second look, with a grin \"I..I did?\" And with that he sinks to the ground sitting with his sword by him.

\"Aye, you did. Not an easy thing to fight numerically superrior opponents at night, my boy. You did very well indeed.\" Rorgan\'s smile is now the true gentle smile most assoicate with the former tailor, \"But my orders are clear. I am to report to Commander Galdorim for placement in the Minas Tirith Guard, brother. Be well and keep the oath. We shall meet again.\" Then, as Rorgan attempts to mount his horse, his blood-soaked left hand slides from the pommel of his saddle and he nearly falls from the horse with a grunt and a curse in the language of his youth, he quickly compensates and climbs aboard the stallion.
