A tale freshly told of the Beorning
A group of elves and Beornings attempting to rid Mirkwood of a new and growing threat are soundly beaten, with some receiving grave wounds.

Logfile from Elendor.
SouthWest Corner of Mirkwood - Dol Guldur Road
You stand at the south and west edge of what was once Greenwood the Great, now
Mirkwood the dark and feared. The wood is drab brown in the winter, and
stretches off to the north and east. Below you the ground is frozen in the cold
twilight setting. You can make out that the ground is heavily trodden into a
smooth, bare track that skirts the edge of the forest.
The forest blocks your path to the northeast, but its outline serves as a
pathway to the north and east. To the west and south lie open spaces.
Silvery outlined clouds backlit by the light of the moon can be seen stretchout
out across the sky. The night time black is consumed in smokey grey clouds.

[Grishnakh(#22300)]
Cold night is almost here. The fridgid bite of winter winds howling from the
mountains to the west. There, the sun casts it\'s final rays out over the land,
fading to a burst of pinks and reds. Blackness seems to ooze from the trees of
Mirkwood as night tightens her grip. The dark and dangerous trees that only evil
walks under. Bereft of all noise, all of the wood seems to be waiting.
Suddenly a howl breaks out of the trees, though from what sort of beast is
unknown. The silence is broken and hell seems ready to pour loose. From a
distance, though not far, comes the beating of a war drum. The pounding of the
drum is slow and steady. Maniacal bursts of high pitched laughter echo about,
seeming to come from all directions under the foilage. One deep voice laughs
louder than all the rest as the branches at the edge of the woods begin to move.
The clusters of stars, the pale face of the full moon: they are dimmed by the
darkness rising from Mirkwood. No fires spot the black ground the camp has been
broken in preparation for this time, this very moment.
Pale under his white hood, the Elf shivers as the last rays of the sun break
upon the horizon. Although still troubled by wounds, Maglind grasps longbow
tightly in one hand, mien hard as tempered steel -- if anything can be guessed
under the shadowy cowl and cloak.
\"You hear them,\" he whispers, turning to face right.
Ragak is one of those moving through those woods, slowly so as to avoid
attracting too much attention, at least at first. An errant branch thwacks him
in the face, which he slices off it\'s tree with his newly issued battle axe, as
he continues to move forward. \"I don\'t see why we\'ve gotta movoe through this
frackin\' forest to get at the elves in it...better to burn the forest down and
take them with it.\" He savagely cuts at another branch to emphasize his words as
he moves forward.
[Mobeorn(#22365)] \"Yes...\" The word is whispered, though with the noise the
approaching orcs are making, it might seem there is no need for such caution.
Mobeorn peers into the darkness, the several days of quiet here having done much
to heal his wounds. He moves carefully, stretching right and left. \"They come in
force, I think.\"
[Grishnakh(#22300)]
The branches part for a hulking beast. A familiar orc crunches through the snow
and the final layer of trees. Stopping, just under the boughs, Grishnakh ceases
his laughter. Behind him, the rest of the vocal noises stop as well, leaving the
sounds of feet much louder than before. It sounds as if quite a few orcs have
made their way here. The light quakes in the earth, beating in time with the war
drum, denote something far worse....
\"Have you come up with a fitting tribute, tresspassers? Or shall we take our
toll in your flesh?\" The orc\'s voice booms from the canopy, the last light
setting his crimson eyes ablaze, \"You see, I\'ve brought a friend. And he\'s
brought his friends. They dislike my leniance.\" He glares at the camp of elves
and men, a half smirk on his ugly face.
No motion offered to greet the speaking orc, Maglind lowers his eyes briefly --
a face that is perhaps, to the more vigilant, turned even more pale at the rumor
of the earth. The hand that slips to his quiver is clenched.
\"I will move than you do,\" the Elf says quietly.
[E/N: should have been \"move when\"]
[Mobeorn(#22365)] Mobeorn, perhaps, doesn\'t understand that, for he turns to
look at Maglind, brows furrowed. \"Huh?\" he asks, even as the air shimmers around
him and he is a man no more, but a huge bear.
[Grox(#31869)]
And indeed, Grishnakh\'s \'friend\' appears from the treeline to his right. A
hulking beast, massive in stature and grotesque to look upon. Standing easily
thrice the height of any man or elf, the creature grasps a tremendous battle axe
within the grasp of one hand. His twain crimson orbs peer upon those gathered
before him. \"Indeed, I dislike leniance for elves.\" spits the creature. Though,
as of yet, Grox does not move towards the enemy.
Ragak moves off to the side as the massive monster breaks through the treeline,
his red eyes straying to the huge ask in the other\'s hand. He backs away as well
apparently not wanting to get caught in the front or backwing of that weapon. He
tries to remain upright and impressive looking as he does this subtle rearward
motion.
[Grishnakh(#22300)]
The uruk-hai frowns solemnly, \"I suppose you just don\'t understand....\" he
trails off and glances at the huge form of Grox, \"But how could you, until
you\'ve been shown!\" The last word is a fierce yell. The orc slams his scimitar
blade down and forward and the orcs come from the trees swiftly. A volley of
arrows accompanies the orcs, but it is short lived, archers grabbing steel for
the melee will be too thick to shoot. Grishnakh is fast to follow, leaping
behind the front orcs in a rush to exact the the terrible toll.
[Mobeorn(#22365)] From the camp of elves and Beornings come answering shouts as
men take up arms and shields are lifted to block the arrows. A volley of arrows
is fired back, and flames spring up as men grab fire, also, to fight back the
orcs.
[+LIGHT:#22365] Mobeorn lights torches.
No answer comes from the shape-changer, and Maglind does not seem inclined to
glance Mobeorn\'s way -- unwavering attention fixed upon the orc\'s large friend,
and the said orc\'s words, upon which follow a stream of arrows. Crouching, fear
shot away for the moment, the marchwarden raises his longbow, a single star set
alight upon it.
\"
Don\'t die,\" he demands of the big bear, a glance shot towards Mobeorn ere he leaps away, and returns his own insult to the toll-exacting horde.
[<#22365>] There\'s an answering roar of a laugh from the bear as it leaps to
follow the elf, staying behind him for the moment to allow him to freely shoot
arrows. The bear seems torn between targets--sun-walking orc or the troll.
\"<
We all have to die sometime,>\" he seems to grin at Maglind. [Grox(#31869)]
Swift to join the charge is the massive figure of the Olog-Hai. His eyes scan
the gathered line before them, and soon, he picks out his target.
Mobeorn has turned into a bear, and it is this beast that the Talagoth bears
down on. \"We shall feast on bear flesh tonight!\" he roars, his axe ripping
through the night air, aimed betwixt the shoulderblades of the Beijabar.
Grox attacks Mobeorn with his Battle Axe and moderately wounds him!
[Mobeorn(#22365)] As the troll comes at him, the bear lunges forward to try to
close the distance between them at the last moment. The strategy doesn\'t pay off,
as the troll\'s axe sinks deep into the bear\'s flesh at his shoulders, eliciting
a roar of pain. Still, the bear presses on in the fight, its claws seeking to
trip up the troll\'s legs and bring it down.
Mobeorn attacks Grox with his Beijabar Fists, but he misses by a handspan.
[Grishnakh(#22300)]
The commander gallops forward, scimitar slashing at any he passes. Blood
already stains the blade as he leaps about, hacking at elves and men. The eyes
roam, looking for a fitting opponent. Seeing the great troll hit the bear, the
vorazg grins and seeks his companion.
[Pieter(#30277)]
And then another roar comes after the bear\'s. Pieter, that greying old warrior,
comes charging toward the troll, running with warhammer in one fist and thumping,
heavy steps!
[Grox(#31869)]
Jumping back, Grox manages to easily evade the swipe of the Beijabar, and he
roars loudly. \"I am your Doom! I shall be the last thing you see in this world!\"
With his words echoing off the surrounding trees, Grox brings the butt spike of
his axe in a downward thrust, aimed for the joint of Mobeorn\'s front right leg.
Grox attacks Mobeorn with his Battle Axe, but he misses by a handspan.
Shaft after angry shaft is the Elf\'s reply, a spare, grim smile clouding his
sternness of face as his bow sings.
The smell of blood is now rank in the air, and as Maglind pauses briefly,
fingering the remaining arrows in his quiver, his eyes fall upon the Vorazg.
This one, it seems, is his next target. White feathers brush against the Elf\'s
pale cheek, a venom-laced benediction, whispered, sent with its flight towards
Grishnakh.
You fire off an arrow at Grishnakh...
Your arrow flies wide of Grishnakh, doing no harm.
[<#22365>] It\'s a close thing, but the bear skitters by the troll\'s axe by a
fraction of an inch. As it comes up behind the troll, its brown eyes travel to
the approaching form of Pieter, and the bear shakes its head.
\"<
The orc!! Help with the orc!>\" it roars, and then it suddenly leaps again at the troll, attacking with
claws from behind.
Mobeorn attacks Grox with his Beijabar Fists and lightly wounds him!
[Grishnakh(#22300)]
The arrow flies so close to the face of Grishnakh that he halts his feet
immediately. The eyes flash dangerously as he looks towards where the dart came.
The top lip curls in a sneer and the vorazg begins to close the distance, each
bounding step taking his curved blade closer to swinging range.
[Pieter(#30277)]
Several more thumping steps halts Pieter\'s charge after the bear roars. He
shakes his head, looking quickly around. An arrow flies, not far from him.
Pieter turns and chases now after Grishnakh, the orc.
Ragak has been trying to be inconspicious as the fight rages on but, as he hears
the arrow fly through the eye toward him, shakes his axe in anger in the
direction of the elves. \"You elves! Wood can\'t win against iron!\"
[Grox(#31869)]
Claws rip into troll flesh, and a few small chunks of stone fall to the ground,
leaving wounds seeping black ichor. Grox, however, does not seem to notice as he
growls in the middle of the fray. No more words are offered. Instead, his axe
once again comes in a downward stroke. This time, his aim is for the flank of
the beast.
Grox attacks Mobeorn with his Battle Axe and moderately wounds him!
[Mobeorn(#22365)] More blood flows freely, the bear stumbling in its steps as
the blade cuts into its left flank--the side that had recently been injured.
Still determined, though, the bear renews its own pursuit of the troll, this
time trying to throw the bulk of its weight--and its claws--against one of the
troll\'s legs, to try to topple it.
Mobeorn attacks Grox with his Beijabar Fists and mildly wounds him!
Maglind seems intent to disprove Ragak, and while the first shaft dives into the
trunk of a tree, the Elf is willing to try again. Even with the shrinking
distance, he draws the long arrow far back -- a mere flash when released,
speeding at the same target.
Still, though the Galadhrim\'s pale eyes flicker with disapproval at the
approaching Grishnakh, and even as the bolt leaves he is ready to abandon the
bow, and draw the slender sword that hangs from his side.
You fire off an arrow at Grishnakh...
Your arrow hits Grishnakh, mildly wounding him!
[Grox(#31869)]
The bulk of the bear is rammed against his leg, but Grox merely stumbles a step
back. More black ichor spills from him, the claw marks apparent, yet the Olog-
Hai seems little concerned. \"Is that the best you can do?\" taunts the Overlord
of Dol Guldur as his axe draws back once again. \"Let me show you what a true
warrior can do.\"
And again, the axe descends for Mobeorn\'s left flank.
Grox attacks Mobeorn with his Battle Axe, but Mobeorn parries the attack with
his Beijabar Fists!
[Pieter(#30277)]
Pieter huffs a bit as he pounds closer to the orc, Grishnakh. And, without
slowing, he swings the heavy head of his maul hammer at his foe, seeking to nail
him anywhere in his torso.
Pieter attacks Grishnakh with his Maul Hammer, but Grishnakh parries the attack
with his Scimitar!
Ragak spies Pieter running past his hiding spot, unnoticed, but as he sees the
man raising his maul the orc sees an opportunity. He grips his battle axe
tighter before coming out from the treeline and runs at Pieter. He raises his
axe, his other hand reachiung down to grip the shaft, before he tries to embed
the forward axe blade in Pieter\'s upper back.
Ragak attacks Pieter with his Battle Axe and lightly wounds him!
[Grishnakh(#22300)]
The orc\'s head darts to the side and still the shaft of the arrow scratches his
cheek before shooting off into the darkness. A line of blood appears, oozing
down his face. The orc slows down his run, holding shield up before him, only a
couple paces away. The pounding of feet cause him to glance aside. Surprised,
the orc just barely gets his scimitar in the way. Now with shield held up at the
archer and a foe to his flank, Grishnakh is spread. He roars in glee as Ragak
appears, still his attention going two directions.
[Pieter(#30277)]
Pieter braces himself against the heavy swing of his weapon as it misses, just
as something hard thumps bruisingly into his back, jingling his metal armor. He
allows himself to turn with the swing now, looking behind. The spike of his
hammer flies thus, hardly aimed, toward Ragak.
Pieter attacks Ragak with his Maul Hammer and badly wounds him!
[Mobeorn(#22365)] This time, though, the bear seems to be ready for the attack,
and its huge paws push against the troll\'s axe, flinging it out of the way.
Again, the bear makes for Grox\'s leg--the back of it now, trying to rake it
through with claws.
Mobeorn attacks Grox with his Beijabar Fists, but he misses by a mile.
Ragak is trying to unstick the axe from the metal armor Pieter is wearing, which
proves to be rather difficult, as he doesn\'t notice the human starting to turn
until after Ragak gets the axe pulled out. The smaller Orc looks up, sees the
maul raised, and tries to block with his left arm. Sadly all this does for Ragak
is give Pieter the chance to stab the spike right through the leather gauntlet
covering his arm. Ragak cries out at the wound, blood spurting upward, as he
snarls and raises his arm up to try and stick the blade in Pieter\'s neck...or as
near to that point as he can reach.
Ragak attacks Pieter with his Battle Axe and moderately wounds him!
And while the orc is diverted, the marchwarden of Lothlorien does not relent:
another arrow, plucked from his dwindling quiver, is set upon the delicate
string, its point a prick of starlight. Maglind sets it free with a whispered
prayer, its susurrant sounds swallowed up by the black night.
You fire off an arrow at Grishnakh...
Your arrow flies wide of Grishnakh, doing no harm.
[Grox(#31869)]
Sidestepping easily passed the stroke of the bear, Grox laughs. \"Pathetic.\" he
roars. \"I have seen Snaga fight better than you!\" With this insult upon his lips,
the Olog-Hai circles about swiftly, and his axe once again descends, aimed for
the nape of Mobeorn\'s neck.
Grox attacks Mobeorn with his Battle Axe, but Mobeorn parries the attack with
his Beijabar Fists!
[Mobeorn(#22365)] Blood is matting the fur in two places where the troll\'s axe
has hit him, but the bear still manages a quick change of direction so that it
is able to kick Grox\'s blade out of the way with a swipe of its deadly claws. It
seems the bear is trying to make the troll dizzy--circling one way quickly,
hitting, then turning and circling the other way. It continues this tactic,
hitting again at the troll\'s leg.
Mobeorn attacks Grox with his Beijabar Fists and mildly wounds him!
[Pieter(#30277)]
The axe cracks into the breast of Pieter\'s chain armor-- a literal crack, and
the man grunts and backs away in his pain, unconciously toward Grishnakh.
Pieter\'s face is red, his step haphazard-- it appears there is a dent where his
collarbone ought to be. He still holds his weapon up but isn\'t paying attention
right now.
[Grishnakh(#22300)]
The arrow sticks fast in the shield that is raised, full attention back on the
elf. In the middle of a lidless eye now protrudes a very long arrow. With a
feral roar, Grishnakh leaps forward towards the archer with no warning. The
scimitar is coated in red blood and droplets fly loose as the weapon swings. A
sideways chop, aimed for Maglind\'s shoulder.
Grishnakh attacks you with his Scimitar!...
...and he misses!
Ragak steps backward away from Pieter, his left arm hanging almost useless due
to the hole made by the spike of Pieter\'s maul. Once he sees that the human is
distracted by his attack, however, Ragak hefts the axe so that the spike between
the blades is pointing toward the crack in the armor. \"Why not try mine, human!\"
He then lunges forward to try and stab through the metal.
Ragak attacks Pieter with his Battle Axe, but he misses by an arm\'s length.
[Grox(#31869)]
Accepting a blow to his leg this time, Grox soon realizes the tactic of the
Beijabar. And as such, the Olog-Hai spins away from Mobeorn, his axe then coming
about in a sweeping blow, aimed for the front of the bear both weapon and
Beijabar advancing swiftly towards one another.
Grox attacks Mobeorn with his Battle Axe, but he misses by a handspan.
[Mobeorn(#22365)] In this instance, the bear is too swift--it speeds toward the
troll before the axe blade can swing down, running between the troll\'s legs and
taking a swipe at them as he does so. Ankle-biting, as it were, only a bit
nastier if the bear\'s claws hit.
Mobeorn attacks Grox with his Beijabar Fists and lightly wounds him!
[Pieter(#30277)]
Pieter\'s nostrils are flared, his face bright red, but his enraged and pained
eyes watch Ragak as he approaches. He takes several quick breaths through his
nose and then, as the orc lunges at him, he steps to the side and swings his
hammer at Ragak\'s head, roaring in pain the whole while.
Pieter attacks Ragak with his Maul Hammer and badly wounds him!
And without warning, nearly in pure reflex, the Elf bows low, one arm clutching
his bow sweeping one way, and the hand holding an unused arrow swinging the
other. Blood spatters his cloak with the force of the swing, red payment taken
from kin and ally -- but none of his own.
Discarding the carven bow for the hilt of his longsword, Maglind draws free the
blade, a chill light reflected in his eyes as he steps back.
Unwielded: Longbow
COMBAT - Wielded: Longsword
You forego your chance to attack.
[Grox(#31869)]
Roaring in agony at the strike that cuts into his ankle, Grox puts pressure upon
his right foot the foot which has not been struck. His axe is raised high above
him, his roar growing to a bellow which descends upon the Beijabar. And soon,
the axe is brought downward in a devastating strike, aimed for the top of
Mobeorn\'s skull.
Grox attacks Mobeorn with his Battle Axe, but Mobeorn parries the attack with
his Beijabar Fists!
[Ragak(#24060)] If the helmet was less new then it was there might not be a
Ragak left to cry out as the maul slams into the side of his head leaving a very
noticeable dent and causing Ragak to stagger. The orc still holds onto his axe
but the ringing in his ears and the stinging pain in the side of his head makes
it impossible for him to attack at the moment.
[Mobeorn(#22365)] This bear is living dangerously. Again it comes in toward the
troll\'s ankle--the axe blade missing its skull only because a mighty push of a
paw bats it away. And then the bear aims for the troll\'s good leg--trying to
injure that and bring the beast down.
Mobeorn attacks Grox with his Beijabar Fists and lightly wounds him!
[Grishnakh(#22300)]
The orc\'s face twists into a hate filled sneer as the elf ducks his swing. He
drops back with his left foot, swinging the shield to flank. The right foot goes
forward, adding power to the hack he takes at Maglind\'s neck. The blade whistles
as he forces it through the chill air.
Grishnakh attacks you with his Scimitar!...
...and he hits! Ouch!
ARB: You\'ve been injured for 31 hp\'s by Grishnakh\'s attack...
...you have -- left. Please RP this injury accordingly.
[Pieter(#30277)]
Grunting with pain in every movement, every breath, Pieter nonetheless presses
the attack. One hand holds more firmly to his weapon than the other, but he
swings back again, walking toward Ragak and aiming the spike at the orc\'s head
now.
Pieter attacks Ragak with his Maul Hammer and moderately wounds him!
Ragak recovers enough to see the attack coming for his head again and, realizing
he only has the one, starts swinging to the right with his axe as Pieter attack.
The spike misses it\'s intended target, scraping along the top of the helmet in a
shower of sparks, as he attempts to stick the axe blade into Pieter\'s leg.
Ragak attacks Pieter with his Battle Axe and moderately wounds him!
[Grox(#31869)]
His right leg is indeed injured, and weight is placed upon both. Wobbling where
he stands, the Olog-Hai does not yet tumble. However, instead he tries to pinch
his legs closed in an attempt to catch the bear between them, while
simultaneously bringing the butt spike of his axe thrusting downward, aimed for
the hip of one of Mobeorn\'s back legs.
Grox attacks Mobeorn with his Battle Axe and moderately wounds him!
[Pieter(#30277)]
The head of the axe embeds in Pieter\'s meaty thigh. \"NNnnng!\" He grits his teeth
against he pain, then ends up screaming anyway. \"DIE why don\'t you!\" he blusters
as the blood starts pouring down his leg. His hammer swings overhand and drops
down on Ragak, the target his skull again.
Pieter attacks Ragak with his Maul Hammer and badly wounds him!
And if Maglind were not wearing the delicate coat of rings, which fragments as
the orc\'s scimitar smashes into his neck, he would not now be able to give a
choked cry, both an expression of pain and a promise of wrath.
Blood darkens the wispy cloak as the marchwarden staggers backwards, one cold
hand pressed to the wound. Like ice, then, is the spike that thrusts at
Grishnakh\'s stomach, accompanied with a strangled string of words that, even for
their musical beauty, no one would dare translate.
You attack Grishnakh with your Longsword...
Grishnakh dodges your attack.
Ragak got a lucky strike but it seems as if his luck hasn\'t lept up with him. As
that maul slams home there is an audible crack before blood begins to trickle
down from underneath his helmet. He staggers back, the axe pulling free from
Pieter\'s leg, as he sinks back against a tree apparently unable to attack due to
the blood loss from his arm and his head.
[Mobeorn(#22365)] The bear stumbles as it is traped at last by the troll, axe
blade sinking deep into its flesh. In fury it roars and slashes out widly at the
troll\'s legs, then tears away, limping.
Mobeorn attacks Grox with his Beijabar Fists and mildly wounds him!
[Grishnakh(#22300)]
The orc\'s positioning of his feet allow his to swivel his hips away from the
elf\'s cold steel. Whipping the shield around Grishnakh tries to keep it between
himself and the sword as he stabs out. The curved blade slides in an upwards
thrust, razor honed edge following the tip towards the upper torso. His hot
breath forces steam into the air as he pants from the exertion of battle.
[Pieter(#30277)]
Pieter is bleeding badly. He stumps toward Ragak where his foe falls, ever
looking as if he is going to topple over himself. He braces himself, then sweeps
his hammer downwards at the orc, seeking to pin him between the weapon and the
tree.
Pieter attacks Ragak with his Maul Hammer and badly wounds him!
Grishnakh attacks you with his Scimitar!...
...and he hits! Ouch!
ARB: You\'ve been injured for 29 hp\'s by Grishnakh\'s attack...
...you have -- left. Please RP this injury accordingly.
[Grox(#31869)]
Grinning in victory, Grox\'s leg regardless takes another strike. Seemingly numb
to the pain, however, the bloodlust comes to his features, and he grins widely.
Limping as he spins about, his axe is brought in a sidelong stroke, aimed at
Mobeorn\'s right flank the upper part of his rear leg to be precise.
Grox attacks Mobeorn with his Battle Axe and badly wounds him!
[Ragak(#24060)] Ragak\'s much maligned left arm is struck again but the pain
seems to galvanize him into action. His eyes, once unfocused, open wide at the
sensation of the spike jabbing right through his arm and into the wood of the
tree behind him. The arm holding his axe is brought slowly up, the blade
swinging toward Pieter\'s arm, before Ragak tries to bring it down with all the
force he can muster onto Pieter\'s wrist.
Ragak attacks Pieter with his Battle Axe, but Pieter parries the attack with his
Maul Hammer!
[Pieter(#30277)]
Pieter turns the hammer and Ragak\'s blade slides along the haft. The man leans a
shoulder against the tree nearby, panting hard, skin going white. Somehow,
though, alas for Ragak, he still swings weakly his weapon at the orc\'s face.
Pieter attacks Ragak with his Maul Hammer and badly wounds him!
[Mobeorn(#22365)] Again the troll blade slides into the bear\'s side, hitting its
target precisely, so that the bear must limp away--and limp away it does,
turning sharply sideways in a hurry to try to escape from this troll, which has
turned out to be too much for it. A roar goes out across the field from it as it
does so.
[Ragak(#24060)] It might be due to Pieter\'s poor state of health but, for
whatever reason, the maul merely strikes the orc a glancing blown which breaks
his nose. Pinned to the tree as he is, though, he can\'t run away so he tries to
keep fighting as much as he can. Ragak\'s eyes are still blazing with mad
desperation as, with ragged breathes, he tries to slice into the already injured
leg again.
Ragak attacks Pieter with his Battle Axe, but Pieter parries the attack with his
Maul Hammer!
There is scarcely a moment to react, barely a heartbeat\'s length to avoid the
blow. Grishnakh does not miss.
Numbed by pain and robbed of breath, Maglind\'s face is a mask of shock, and his
dimming gaze merely stares at the scimitar in his chest, that drinks his blood.
An equally dark patch grows at his back as he stumbles backwards, lips forming a
small smile as he whispers faint words: \"I pray, not today, toll-taker.\"
Wrenching himself away, the marchwarden dashes gracelessly for the trees, a
single command formed from bloody lips: \"Retreat!\"
[Pieter(#30277)]
Pieter again blocks Ragak\'s blow with the hammer, then stands there, heaving
hard, exhausted breaths. He then begins to back away, step by heavy step, and
once out of range of his foe, turns and tries to quicken a bit and follow the
limping bear.
[Grishnakh(#22300)]
Grishnakh\'s roar is the only answer to the fast fleeing enemies. He stands
still, watching his opponent run, watching them all run. A few orcs try persuit,
but archers cover the retreat well and Grishnakh has no wish to brave those
darts. He stands in the blood drenched snow, that same low mocking laughter
following the retreat of the elves and men.
Ragak staggers slowly away from the tree, the axe weighing his arm down to the
ground, as he stares blearly after the retreating human before turning and
heading toward the orc forces. His armor is dented, his helmet is broken, but he
still has is axe. That makes it a good battle.
Like clouds lost in the wind are the Galadhrim, bearing what wounded brethren
and Beorning they may under their enchanted cloaks, swiftly into the shadows.
What shadows await them is another matter of worry.
They are vanished.
