(Archive) Galharth\'s Thoughts
A tale freshly told of the Galadhrim
As the camp passes over the mountains without incident, Galharth worries some memebers will let their guard down.
The lands of Eriador are in shadow under the setting sun. The moon is already rising, but the world is still dimmed.
The map carried by Thorhur seems to be floating in mid-air, for so is the work of his cloak that he is invisible to most eyes.
\"Shadows thrive in twilight in the moments before star light brings light.\" Galharth says as he appears from the cover of his tent.\" Closing the few steps to the Knight\'s side, the Tailor pauses and glances towards the map. \"The trip has been a quiet one thus far. How much longer might it be until we arrive?\"
Thorhur looks up from his map and smiles. \"A couple more weeks,\" he whispers. The Knight rolls the map up and looks to the north. \"We are now south of the South Downs, part of the lands of the halflings, according to certain volumes.\"
\"With the path taken, I do not believe we\'ll encounter these halflings.\" The Tailor says as he looks out into the growing darkness surrounding the camp. \"Not that this is a bad thing,\" Galharth says as he turns his head to glance at Thorhur. \"When there are no encounters, there is no threat.\"
The Knight nods in response. \"No threat...\" he repeats thoughtfully. \"I was surprised in a way that we met with no threat. The yrch of the mountains did not trouble us, the wild men of Dunland troubled us little, and we are almost at the end of our journey.\" He turns to Galharth. \"Usually luck is not with us when we travel.\"
\"What you say can indeed be said of the past years worth of travel, and to push it, possibly even a few hundred years,\" Galharth says flatly, \"But it has not always been the case. Alas, I find it refreshing, and perhaps a little dull.\" Shaking his head, the Tailor glances back out into the night. \"All this talk about what dangers lurk, and what might or could happen has built the tension high with no release or confirmation. For some who travel it might secure a sense of false security. That might affect actions on our return trip.\"
\"I hope that is not the case,\" Thorhur says quietly. \"I know I will not let my guard down until we are back in the Woods. Even in Mithlond I will not feel completely safe.\"
\"While a Bard, you are primarily a Guard.\" Galharth says flatly. \"And no guard will let their attentions slide. The others among us will, I fear, see the calmness of our trek as proof that the threats against our people have been blown out of proportion. I recommend you keep your eyes upon our non combatants.\"
Thorhur nods. \"I will...although I am confident that the those of the Royal Court who came at least will not be fooled. You travel enough to know that you must keep your guard up all the time...especially you Galharth.\" The Knight flashes a small smile to the Tailor.
\"It is not the Royal Court that worries me,\" Galharth replies swiftly. \"Nor myself as I\'ve already passed through my trials by fire.\" The corner of his mouth rises slightly and he glances towards the Knight. \"In fact, I\'d liken my sense alongside that of the Guards.\" Shaking his head and turning slightly to look back into the camp, his eyes focus on several young bards. \"This is a new experience for many, and it\'ll leave a lasting impression in both their work and their confidence.\"
Crossing his arms over his chest, he sighs. \"Perhaps it might be wise to set up a training session, or possibly take one or two of our non combattants into the wilds on patrol.\"
\"I am sure Maglind would be willing to train,\" Thorhur replies after a moment\'s pause. \"As for patrol, there are only a few I could pick out who would really have to come along.\" He turns his glance to the Bards. \"A routine scouting mission shouldn\'t be too hard. At least they have the protection of their fine elven cloaks.\" He turns to the Tailor and smiles broadly.
A soft chuckle rings out in the night air. \"Perhaps I\'ll check with Maglind and try my hand with dagger training once more.\" Taking a step back towards the tents, the Craftsmaster pauses and looks again to the Knight, \"Should you like to take any of the Crafters on your patrol, please feel free to do so.\" With that spoken, Galharth retreats towards the soothing darkness of his tent.
