Dol Amroth

Drenlyn plies Gweneth with honeyed words.... such as... \"Why my lady, your dress and ornaments dictate you of noble birth, but I\'ve heard enough about the noble beauty of the tall Lady of Bragollach, to recognize, that you do indeed fit the elegant description. Though I must say that some men are too coarse to do you justice.\"

Dol Amroth: The Golden Kraken Inn - Common Room

The ceiling of this room reaches high into the air, and all you can see as you look up, is an army of stout wooden beams, crossing one another in a sturdy frame. Between the beams, thick and heavy, massive shadows lie in wait like a beast stalking its prey...

But that does not destroy the friendly atmosphere of the room, which is as cozy as one\'s own home. One side of the room is devoted to beds, which sit side by side in great numbers. Opposite the side meant for sleep, a number of tables are arranged about one another, in no real order. Nearby is a hearth, with has a plentiful supply of wood. The chairs loiter about their tables, some actually poised between, like small undecided children. There on the wall to the left of the fireplace, many small carvings mar the wood.

Several people stroll in and out, going to and from their daily business. There are a few beds left unmade from the previous night, but surely they mean to return again, when the sun sets.

The midday wanes as the common room begins to gather its usual friendly feel. A pleasant fire has been started on the hearth, as a fresh spring breeze blows gently through the room.

The chairs and tables stand clean and unused, and the room is empty save for a lonely bent figure siting at a table by the fire. Here the squire Drenlyn sits pondering the dancing flames on the hearth.

\"Where could she have gone.....If only .... quicker, that sound ......horrible. Who was that demon she spoke of,\" Drenlyn mutters to himself as he leans on a weak elbow, his face white as snow.

\"Talk of Demons is hardly a topic of choice for young Squires,\" a woman\'s voice sounds from behind the squire. The silence of the room is broken, as a half dozen knights move into the common room, as well as a trio of Ladies in Waiting. Lowering herself in a chair behind the youth, Lady Gweneth watches the squires back. She smoothes out the skirts of her ivory gown, the neckline and backline of her gown lined with small pearls, in her hair matching combs holding the braid of her hair together. \"It is a sad day when a young squire sits alone, with no studies, nor no friends.\"

Drenlyn perks up at the sound of a voice, and his face draws color as the room fills quickly. Standing and turning, Drenlyn gives a languid bow, \"It is indeed my Lady, but I find that my mind wanders as I now work. Here I found refuge from my worries...at least for a little while.\" Drenlyn now sits again, but turns his chair to the Lady Bragollach, ignoring the other movements in the room.

Gweneth motions towards the party, \"Forgive my entourage. They can be grating in their imitation of a shadow, but when needed prove their worth at once.\" She pauses, leaning back into her chair, \"What is your name, young man?\"

\"My name is Drenlyn, son of Drenelither, from the southern tip of Belfalas.\" Drenlyn, fidgeting with nervousness, \"And, if I am to guess rightly, you are the Lady of Bragollach. I hope I do guess rightly, for lately, and to my discomfort, I have seemed to mistake the more noble lords and ladies.\"

A smile slowly curls on Gweneth\'s lips, \"Indeed I am, but I would know what caused you to recognize me as such.\"

\"Why my lady, your dress and ornaments dictate you of noble birth, but I\'ve heard enough about the noble beauty of the tall Lady of Bragollach, to recognize, that you do indeed fit the elegant description. Though I must say that some men are too coarse to do you justice.\"

\"Oh?\" The Chamberlain says with an amused grin and a raised brow. She crosses her arms and lays them in her lap, \"Then by all means. Do me justice. Impress me, young squire, with your ability to use words in a,\" she pauses, \"Smooth manner.\"

Sitting straight now, Drenlyn looks calmly at the Lady of Bragollach and begins, \"Your hair embodies the depth of night, as your face shines as a glowing sun. Like a crimson butterfly your lips accent the budding flower of your face. Your eyes contain a depth of wisdom seen only in a few, as your fair skin only adds to your noble features.\" Taking a deep, calm breath Drenlyn continues, \"I can go on if you please my Lady?\"

\"Ah, a queen. Very nice touch,\" Gweneth says, rising from her chair, \"I give you, a mark of eight of ten. You will go far young squire if your tongue remains as cool as it seems. Take care, perhaps I will be allowed to test you again at something more difficult, but surely more interesting.\"

Gweneth smiles honestly, her eyes squinting slightly as she makes her way out of the room, her ladies and knights following her.
