New page

== Major overhaul of templates and categories ==

Kel, I really like this template. I have an idea. I'm going to deprecate the use of Template:Character, which was carried over from the old gondor wiki. In fact, I wonder what would happen if I just made that page redirect to Template:CharacterBox???

Also, I think we should take categorization out of the hands of the users and place it into templates. Lots of benefits of doing this, including consistency and ease of refactoring. For CharacterBox in particular I would suggest including Category:Characters (mush-wide character listing), and Category:{{{culture}}} Characters (for culture-wide character listings) (and possibly Category:{{{culture}}} but that could produce cluttered results on culture category pages) If we use that convention for other template/category pairings as well (ie, places, houses/clans, etc) then culture categories will by default have a very consistent and organized appearance to them.

I also like the formatting style used in this particular template. Maybe we should abstract it out into a more general 'Template:Box' template for consistent style formatting between templates. Therefore Template:CharacterBox would share its formatting style with Category:PlaceBox, Category:HouseBox, or whatever, and all could be edited from a single point.

Tell me what you think.
