Description

Standing almost 7 feet tall, Glintaur commands a certain amount of attention without being intentionally imposing or overbearing. He has long silver hair that rests lightly on a pair of broad shoulders, grey eyes and a relatively pale complexion. Despite his broad shoulders he is pretty lithe and moves with a grace that belies his almost lanky physique.

Glintaur is usually dressed in exquisitely made dark green clothing of elven design and a pair of knee high soft leather boots. A silver pin, fashioned in the shape of a mallyrn leaf, clasps a long flowing cloak around the elf's neck, which seems to take on the hue of his surroundings. At his waist hangs a dark brown leather scabbard in which is sheathed a longsword and over his left shoulder hangs a well-fashioned longbow

History

Glintaur was one of the first elves to be born during the migration of the Eldar from Cuivienen under the guidance of Orome. His parents, whose names are now long forgotten, were amongst those that tallied long around the place of their birth and who were members of the Teleri host lead by Lenwe. Glintaur was born in the Vale of Anduin, that land between the Misty Mountains and the Great River. His early years were spent playing by the side of the Anduin and in learning and experiencing the multitude of living things that surrounded his families home. During this time under the stars, Glintaur was the most happy, and he came to have a deep seated love for the earth and the creatures that roam its surface. He also learned a great deal about the interaction between the different aspects of nature and to this day he is most at ease when alone in the wilderness.

Following the urgings of his parents, Glintaur agreed to follow Denethor over the Misty Mountains in search of the famed realm of Menegroth where Elwe Singollo, now known as Elu Thingol to the Sindars, ruled. Settling in Ossiriand Glintaur, who even then preferred the company of few and being alone the best, began carrying messages between Ossiriand, Menegroth and the dwarven cities of Nogrod and Belegost in the mountains known as Ered Luin. It was during a visit to Belegost that he heard Morgoth's cry and rumors of an unknown terror living in what is now known as Ered Gorgoroth. Indeed, for a while Glintaur did not return to Beleriand, prefering to spend time with his distant brethren who had remained to the east of Ered Luin. Infact he did not return to Ossirand until the first battle of Beleriand when he accompanied the dwarves who fell upon the orcish remenants fleeing north after being crushed by the combined might of Denethor and Thingol. Returning to his homeland he was devastated to learn of the death of his family and his ruler upon Amon Ereb at the hands of the orcish horde.

For long years did Glintaur grieve his loss and the loss of so many of his kin. During this time he, along with many of those who survived from Denethor's people, retreated into the deepest regions of Taur im Duinath becoming known as the Laiquendi - The Green Elves. During his isolation did the sun and moon first cross the sky and Feanor returned to the east followed by those he had abandoned in Helcaraxe. He missed the second war of Beleriand,in fact Glintaur did not emerge from the depths of Taur-im-Duinath until 400 years or more after man first appeared in Middle-Earth. At that time the siege of Angband was broken by the Battle of Sudden Flame and news of Morgoths subsequent onslaught across Beleriand filtered to the hidden Laiquendi as the Sindars fled into Ossiriand and Taur-im-Duinath. Glintaur, hearing this tragic news, committed himself to aiding his brethren against the same enemy that had killed his parents and close family as well as his much admired leader Denethor. Leaving the Laiquendi, he headed north and initially joined Feanor's sons Caranthir, Amrod and Amras who resided in the Fortress on Amon Ereb. Here he learned of much tha had happened in the world since his retreat into isolation and much of what he learned saddened him.

Over the years he grew to dislike Feanor's sons but resolved to stay with them to lend his aid, where needed, in the fight against Morgoth. However, the situation worsened when Ulfang the Black and his sons Ulfast, Ulwarth and Uldor pledged the allegiance of the easterlings to Caranthir. Taking his leave of the rulers of Amon Ereb, Glintaur made his way towards Eglarest where he had heard that Cirdan ruled with a fair hand and great wisdom. This was the farthest west that Glintaur ever ventured on Middle-earth and often rues the fact that he never explored Hithlom and the realm of Fingolfin.

After spending many years aiding Cirdan by tracking and spying upon both the minions of Morgoth and the sons of Feanor, Glintaur, yearned for the trees of taur-in-Duinath and the fair country of Ossiriand, and taking his leave of Cirdan, he returned to Ossiriand, which was ruled, by that time by, Beren and Luthien. Sick of the politics between the rulers of Beleriand, he once again spent time in relative isolation exploring the lands east of Ossiriand across Ered Lindon. However, when Beren and Dior called for help, Glintaur joined the force that beset the dwarven army at Sarn Athrad. That army had just destroyed Menegroth and, although he had strong ties with the dwarves of Belegost and Nogrod, Glintaur could not forgive their latest actions. After the annihilation of the dwarven army, Glintaur decided not to join those elves that followed Dior back to Menegroth. In fact he headed east back over the mountains into the Vales of Anduin which were the place of his birth.

After many years exploring the lands east of Beleriand and getting to know the elves that still lived there, Glintaur returned to Beleriand. However, he did not return to Ossiriand, but instead once again sought refuge amongst those Teleri ruled by Cirdan so that he may learn of the events that had occurred in his absence. It was soon after his return that the Great Battle was fought, Morgoth was cast into the void and Beleriand was destroyed. Lucky was his decision to seek out Cirdan for Glintaur was able to escape the catastrophic destruction of his homeland aboard one of Cirdan's ships. Eternally greatful to the Elven Lord, he pledged Cirdan his allegiance and officially joined the ranks of the Teleri that would become known as the Mithlondhrim during the 2nd and 3rd Ages.

The loss of such fine and beautiful places, still pains Glintaur today but the pain increases his resolve to thwart the evil left by Morgoth in Middle-Earth. To that goal he has committed his existance, for Glintaur loves the land and has sworn to protect it, and its inhabitants, from experiencing a loss as great as Beleriand.

Since the closing of the First Age, Glintaur has traveled the length and breadth of Middle-Earth spending time in all of the remaining Elfhomes. He lends his formidable woodlore, tracking skills and experience to those who ask. To Cirdan's home does he return when in need of rest and relaxation. For such a lover of forests and tree's this may seem a little strange. However, he looks fondly on the time he spent in Eglarest and now views the Mithlondhrim as his adopted people. Although a member of the Mithlondhrim he may now be, a quick look at his attire and unease in crowded places clearly reveals his Laiquendi heritage.
