Description
A pillar of a sunken age here rises, marble surf-worn but hale despite. Spry sea-grey eyes ripe yet as fruit within a visage of stone, scouting above a dark beard of stately keep, hard malars and a nose akin: the wedding of youth's vigor and a tomb's austerity, chiseled here into the features of Man. An imperious gravity so animates him, reigning from atop a high-crowned helm crested with white swan feathers.
His cloak is simple: lined with fur and hemmed with silver, of a singular dark azure, brooched at the left breast by a crescent moon of argent. There beneath, chain links fence his tall frame, some few of a resplendent silver tracing a four-pronged star in the midst of his otherwise raven mail. He wears too a baldric, upon which are pinned the four gold and black cables of an infantry Captain, as well as a gold chain to mark his current office as Imrahil's Herald. And at his hip, aside a banded ivory horn: a runed leather scabbard, cot to a large-hilted blade of one-and-a-half hands, token of the Isilrim lordship.
Background
Following the late Lord Sirion II's death upon the walls of Umbar, his sons were birthed in the Isilrim lands of Calembel. The Isilrim triplets, forsaken by their mother, Lady Charystra of the Rovacil, were raised largely by their grandfather Lord Sirion I and the Lord Thorondur Girithlin in Dol Amroth.
Arathis, the gravest of the three, earned the Swan's service by seventeen. He departed then for Minas Tirith, where he became Captain of the Silver Ship Company by twenty, renowned for victories in Osgiliath, Poros, and Linhir. At twenty-eight, he removed to the Steward's Citadel Guard, wherein his blood is said to have cooled.
At thirty-one, he reentered the ranks of Imrahil's Order, quickly establishing himself again in Dol Amroth by winning that city's tournament. Under the Crown-Prince Elphir, he proved a mighty crusader in Harondor, ere returning to Osgiliath for the battle to retake that ancient city. His third brother was there slain; his first brother escorted the corpse back to the lands of the Isilrim, consigning the lordship of that house to Arathis at his departure. Entrusted at thirty-four by Imrahil as his Knight-Herald, Arathis now represents the will of the Prince in the White City.
