Prudence Rosewater works in the Prancing Pony as a server and maid. She probably doesn't make very much in tips due to her surly attitude toward customers, but she is a very hard worker.

Many people know that her house burned down. Those who know of her family will know this: her father is a drunk and isn't around very much at all. Her mother is one of those useless types. Either her health really is fragile or she just enjoys being taken care of, something that Prudence has thus far done. She has a younger sister named Temperence who has always been prettier and more vivacious than Prudence. Temperence is married to a farmer. The youngest sibling, an eight-year-old boy named Jes, has never met their father. Jes and their mother have moved in with Temperence and her husband since the fire, though Prudence is staying at the Pony good bit.

Prudence has struck up a friendship of sorts with Acelen the Ostler, despite the disagreeable nature of both of their personalities.
