(Archive) Training Day
From the archives of the Gondorian
A log of a huge training session in Gondor (est date 2000)
[Lossaran(#28151)] Into the common area of the Training Grounds steps a green clad man, his black hair tied neatly behind his head, expression mostly indifferent to his surroundings except when an acquaintance hails him from afar. To all whom acknowledge his presence he returns with a nod of his head. Spear in hand, he moves it from left to right as he removes his cloak from his shoulders, which he then piles neatly and lays near the wall. Taking notice now of those around him the scout surveys the area with keen, grey eyes.
[Icarus(#30063)] Standing at one of the corners of the grounds is Icarus, a sword in one hand and a shield on the other arm. He takes a few swings, his blade cutting through the air, as fighting an invisible foe. After his series of hits, Icarus brings his sword back in his sheath, turning around he examines the grounds while strenching a bit.
[Mardamir(#27388)] Torches are set about the outer area of the grounds, creating a circle of light around where the ring of iron sounds out loudly, reverberating off the walls. Into the enclosure of the grounds walks a tall man, dressed in the ordinary garb of a traveller, yet he bears no weapon at his side. Striding with ease along the wall, he pauses, observing the men paired together in practice.
[Agrinnor(#28627)] Following up behind this man is another, whom looks a bit younger and everything he wears from the waist down is brown, while everything above his waist is green, he wears one of the lapels of the scouts. He strides in cautiously looking from side to side and watching the various going-ons of the training grounds. Agrinnor also keeps an eye on Lossaran, the man in front of him, and he makes special effort to keep his pace.
[Aearwen(#7229)] The sound of the coach rattling over the stone streets is barely heard on the training grounds as the men practice in the twilight, stepping from that coach is Lady Aearwen. Giving a coin to the driver, she gracefully lifts her skirts against the soil of the ground and daintily picks her way across the field. Soft blue eyes peer into the darkness for a tall figure, smiling gently as she spots many familiar faces, her search continues for one person in particular. In her hand is an odd shaped bottle with a wooden cork in the end.
Krisorn sees Icarus and with a smile he moves towards the Corporal and raises his voice slightly, \"Icarus! I didn\'t realize you were off duty right now. Come to hone your skills with that overgrown dagger of yours again? I don\'t understand why you don\'t carry a real weapon like the axe that the Commander and I both carry.\" Krisorn\'s smile is light and his words joking as he moves towards the younger man.
[Galdorim(#22020)] A tall proud figure stirdes onto the training grounds. He bears the insignia of a Commander in the minas Tirith guard. Those who know him, would recognize Commander Galdorim. He is in full armor and has his shield and axe with him as well. His eyes scan over the men that are practicing at this area. The Seargeant of Drill snaps to attention and snaps a salute to him. He call out loudly so all can hear. \"Attention!\" Galdorim returns the salute and calls out, \"At ease!\" as his pulls his shield on his left arm. \"I am here to get back into fighting shape.\"
[Belahir(#28934)] A man of average height and build strolls silently into the training grounds. He looks around and sees quite a few people he knows from both the Guard and the Scouts. He waves and smiles as he continues to walk forward. He carries his sword at his side.
[Gweneth(#17847)] Apearing a few minutes after the appereance of Lady Aearwen, another odd sight follow as Lady Gweneth pauses but a momment before following. Unlike her cousin, she does not raise her skirts, her hands remaining clasped at her ribs, yet the effect is the same as the hem of her dress manages to hover over the soil. A few guards look questioningly at her, others coldly. Then at the call of Galdorim, she moves towards him, drifting out to the side of the crowd of guards, attempting to try and stand out less than she already does.
[Icarus(#30063)] Hearing the familiar voice of the woodsman, Icarus turns around at the direction the voice comes from. Seeing Krisorn, the guardsman greets him with a smile, \"Bah, I have no need of lumber, Krisorn. This overgrown dagger, as you call it, will make short work of whatever crosses it.\" Bringing his hand on the hilt of his sword, he adds with a grin, \"Why don\'t why test our weapons instead of talking about them?\"
[Lossaran(#28151)] Almost as if Lossaran has sensed eyes are upon him, he turns to look at Agrinnor, turning his fairly absent expression into one of recognition. His gaze follows past the scout to Aearwen, eyes narrowing slightly as the dusky horizon and the light of the torches meet, creating a haze-like effect upon the outer edges of the grounds. Eyes narrow even further at the sight of the Lady Bragollach and if one looked close enough, a curl had moved onto the man\'s lips. However, turning his attention back to Agrinnor, Lossaran gives the man a silent hello in the form of a nod of his head. With a smile on his face, the scout moves toward the young man, long spear tapping the ground as he walks. When he reaches within talking distance he offers, \"Well met. I don\'t think we have met before.\" Though it is not phrased as a question, the intonation in his voice and the quirk of an eyebrow carries the sentence as if an apology had the two indeed met in the past and he has since forgotten. \"I am Lossaran,\" he finishes.
Krisorn turns slightly, not stiffening to attention as many do hearing the Commanders voice, but he watches the Galdorim\'s movements covertly before turning back to Icarus and smiles, \"Indeed, that might not be such a bad idea, though I was thinking of practicing some of my more.. unconventional moves. How about a little change to the normal rules of the grounds. How about if I can only try to disarm you, instead of actually working to attack against you. It will allow me a chance to work on some things that I don\'t normally get a chance to practice..\" Krisorn grins at the younger man and says, \"And it gives you more than a sporting chance of beating me as I\'m at a disadvantage.\"
[Mardamir(#27388)] Arms folded before him and half engulfed in shadow, Mardamir strikes an unassuming figure against the wall. His eye roves over the grounds, drawn to attention by the clash of steel and calls that are exchanged between the dozens of men present, most notably the familiar figure of Galdorim. As his gaze travels, the vision of two ladies approaching brings an expression of more than mild interest to his shadowed face. Stepping foward into the light, he looks to them both.
[Combat(#13388)] Lossaran pulls back the hood of his cloak letting the rest slip from his shoulders as he removes it.
Belahir walks over slowly towards the direction of the Guard Commander with a smile on his face. He nods to him. \"Good afternoon sir. I didn\'t expect to see you up and about, but I\'m glad to see you here sir.\" He glances towards the lady Aearwen, \"It seems that you had to get special permission.\" He chuckles slightly.
[Agrinnor(#28627)] Agrinnor Stops when Lossaran turns around and listens to him intently as he speaks, then he speaks to the scout, \"Well met. I don\'t think we have meet before.\" He adds a bit of emphais on the word \'have\' and continues, \"At least I am quite sure that we have not been introduced, I think we have seen each other before, though I could be mistaken. I am Agrinnor.\" With this, and noticing Lossaran\'s actions, he steps to the side of the training grounds as he too removes his cloak.
Galdorim looks over and spots the young scout, Belahir. His pulls his axe from his belt hand grips it in his large hand. \"Belahir. Is it not?!\" He glances at the beautiful Lady Aearwen and chuckles. \"The lady healer has freed me up her direct care.\" He winks at Aearwen and then turns back to Belahir. \"I wish to get a good workout. I need to get back into fighting form. I have been ill way too long.\" He motions to an open area. \"Let us spar and see how will the scouts can wield a sword..\"
[Icarus(#30063)] \"As you wish.\" Icarus says with a smile, as he starts to walk towards the middle of the grounds. Not looking behind him, he says \"Are you coming Krisorn or are you having second thoughts.\"
Lossaran makes a tiny smile to indicate to the man before him that their meeting is affirmed. Before he speaks the familiar figure of Mardamir crosses his line of vision, momentarily causing him to pause before he says to Agrinnor, \"So, what brings you here on this pleasant summer night? Watching some of Minas Tirith\'s best spar or here to do some training as well?\" Gray eyes fix solidly on the man now, arms crossing over his chest and hugging his spear in them as he awaits the man\'s reply.
Krisorn laughs and his axe seems to leap from his side to his left hand as he grips it. He also leans back and picks up his shield, adjusting the weight on his arm before following Icarus out onto the field. \"Well, Corporal, let us see if you have increased your skill enough to be considered an officer. For if a mere man at arms like myself can disarm you I would worry about your survival should you face a true warrior like our Commander.\" Krisorns taunt is light hearted and he smiles even as he says it taking the sting out of the words and leaving instead a friendly joke between these two.
Belahir nods, \"Understandable sir. If the lady here will release you from her care...\" With a smile he unsheathes his longsword and looks it over carefully, as it glints off the sun. He swings it a few times to get the feel of it again, and then does a few quick stretches.
[Combat(#13388)] Belahir draws the mighty blade Isilnare from over his shoulder.
[Agrinnor(#28627)] Turning with Lossaran\'s gaze to see what Lossaran sees, Agrinnor, too notices Mardamir, but he quickly turns his attention back to his fellow scout. \"Actually I am here for a little of both, though my primary purpose for being here is to get some training.\" With this the young man rests his left hand on the hilt of his sword, which is in its sheath on his right hip. After a brief pause, Agrinnor ventures, \"Would you care to show me a few moves?\"
Galdorim frowns slightly as he takes a defensive stance in an open area. He pulls his shield with his heraldric arms upon it and holds his perpendicular to his body. His axe hovers just over his shoulder as his blue eyes look to Balahir. \"Come and see what this ill Commander has left in him then, Belahir..\" He motions for the scout to come at him and try to hit him.
[<#27388>] Mardamir walks across the yard, moving between pairs of men locked in practice as he makes his way closer to the raven haired woman. Nearing where Lossaran and Agrinnor stand together, he slows his step and greets them, \'Lossaran.. Agrinnor..\', he says with a nod, his eye never leaving the woman for long, \'A lesson in arms?\', he asks them both when a loud voice calls to him in the thick tongue of the North. \"\", he answers back, laughing.
Belahir laughs slightly as he raises his weapon into an aggressive stance. He nods and says, \"I hate to send you back to your sickbed, but its just that the Scouts can beat a Gaurd, everytime.\" With that he advances quickly and sends a slashing blow towards Galdorim\'s midsection.
Belahir attacks Galdorim with his Longsword, but Galdorim parries the attack with his Axe!
[Icarus(#30063)] Arriving at the proper location, Icarus stretches some more while waiting for Krisorn. Seeing the woodsman, the young Corporal brings his sword out of his sheath, the blade glintering from the small light eminating from the nearby torches. \"You had the stinking axe of yours in your hands far longer then I had my sword, I will not be embarass of being disarmed by you Krisorn, although I seriously doubt you will succeed.\" Icarus says with a smile, while taking a defensive stance.
Lossaran makes a broad grin and chuckles, \"With the weapon you carry now I doubt I could show you much more than if I were to be carrying a mere dagger. But perhaps I can give you some training in how to fight against a foe who wields a much longer weapon than you.\" He holds forth his spear and swings it underneath his arms showing its great length and how far away Agrinnor is from getting near Lossaran\'s body. He pauses to nod to Mardamir, \"Aye,\" he says, making a tiny smile before turning back to Agrinnor. \"You shall have to use your head much more than your shoulders to avoid this.\" Turning to move more into the centre of the arena, Lossaran beckons the scout to join him. \"Come,\" he says smiling and offering further advice, \"Stay defensive at first, watch where I am vunerable to attack and try and get in close when the moment arrived. Miss your chance and this tip will surely find you.\" Beaming he balances himself squarely before the other scout and readies his spear before him, tip raised on a 45 degree angle upwards.
[Aearwen(#7229)] The cerulean eyes of Lady Aearwen find the object of her search and a frown quickly replaces the pleasant look upon her face. Tapping the bottle in her hand against the satin material of her skirt in a restless, angry motion, she watches Galdorim and Belahir on the training field. A growl of impatience issues from the soft pink lips of the women, \"Men! Always in too big of a hurry to take care of themselves.\" The sound of another tongue catches her attention and she whirls around to find the person to speak the language she has not heard for many months now.
\"Everytime you say?!\" Galdorim says light heartedly as he easily swats Belahir\'s blade away with a quick motion of his axe. He keep his axe in motion and loops it over his head and sends the flat his his axe towards the shoulder of this arrogant scout. He moves his feet quickly as he advances to close the distances as the hunted becomes the hunter. \"Looks like I need to teach you some humility as well!\"\"
Galdorim attacks Belahir with his Axe, but he misses by a mile.
[<#7229>] Aearwen says, \"\" Smiling a bit the noble woman almost forgets her angry with the tall Commander as she walks closer to Mardamir and says, \"\"
[Agrinnor(#28627)] Agrinnor looks to Lossaran and then back to Mardamir and responds with both a nod and a comment: \"Yes, I believe I would most enjoy that and would probably benifit greatly from it as well.\" After Lossaran\'s comment, Agrinnor follows his fellow scout onto the grounds, he stops about three yards from Lossaran and brings his right hand across his body, and draws his long sword. With his longsword now in his right hand, he steps a bit closer about a foot out of the reach of Lossaran\'s spear, \"Well if I should be defensive then you should make the first move.\" With this Agrinnor takes a defensive position with his sword at about a 70 degree angle pointing up.
[Combat(#13388)] Agrinnor pulls his sword from his sheath.
Krisorn laughs and says, \"Oh really Icarus? Come now, haven\'t you been practicing? with that weapon of yours? I would hope you\'ve picked up a trick or three in that time.\" Krisorn smiles and then moves quickly, his steps not as smooth as an experts, but quick none the less as he attempts to step towards Icarus and bind the others blade with his shield. His axe itself is held back to parry and it\'s haft is only lightly held in Krisorn\'s hand.
Belahir laughs as his quick movements and reflexes carries him out of harms way. \"Yes, like I said, everytime.\" He moves his feet quickly, attempting to confuse his opponent with his footwork. Then with a quick movement, he changes his position to deliver a quick blow towards the Commander\'s left shoulder.
Belahir attacks Galdorim with his Longsword, but Galdorim parries the attack with his shield!
[<#22020>] Galdorim turns his body slightly as his shield intercepts the sword of Belahir. \"\" He feign his next blow with his axe towards the head of the cocky young scout and then quickly redirects it towards this thigh. He Glances towards Aearwen as he moves away from him. \'I see you are learning Rhirric as well?!\'
Galdorim attacks Belahir with his Axe and mildly wounds him!
Lossaran grins widely, obviously enjoying the moment before battle and he looks in all directions except behind him to assess the area in which the two men are about to fight. \"I guess I did set myself up for that,\" he comments, chuckling. With that said, the scouts flits forward about six inches, shuffling his feet until his right is slightly further ahead than the other. With his left hand he stretches out his arm to the side of his body and the spear in his right flips in his hand to grip it underneath. His first jab goes high and to the left, but it is a just a feint. The real blow comes lower, toward the chest, and though it is not thrown forward fast, it is still swift enough to require an equally swift parry.
Lossaran attacks Agrinnor with his Spear, but he misses by a mile.
Belahir growls as his opponent\'s axe finds its way through his defenses. The man\'s axe takes a small chunk out of his chin, doing no damage to him physically, as this is just a spar, but nicking his pride. Belahir raises an eyebrow at the man before him and decides that he should no longer make foolish threats. He takes a more defensive stance, raising his sword protectively. He moves towards Galdorim cautiously, feints again to the left but brings his sword spinning around to the right.
[Icarus(#30063)] \"You might be surprised, Krisorn.\"Icarus answers back, as the Man-At-Arms steps towards him. Seeing the upcoming attack, Icarus steps to the side as Krisorn passes by. Looking at his opponent, the young man says, \"I am dissapointed at you. I expected more.\" At the same time, the young officer thrusts his sword towards his opponents chest, changing direction at mid point and bringing his blade down, hopping to trick his opponent.
Belahir attacks Galdorim with his Longsword, but Galdorim parries the attack with his Axe!
[<#27388>] The voice of the Northman bellows out again and Mardamir laughs without reply, but it is the gentle tones of the woman that he answers. Raising a brow and turning toward her, he smiles and inclines his head in greeting, \"\" He answers, and turns also to Galdorim\'s call, \"\", he grins and once more looks to the Lady, \'Will you watch with me?\', he asks in the common tongue.
[Agrinnor(#28627)] When Lossaran moves his couple of steps forward, Agrinnor tenses and waits but a moment for the scouts attack to come, when it does he easily jumps to the side and out of the way of the spear. Then quickly he steps a few feet back to prepare for Lossaran\'s next attempt. He makes no immediate action towards a counter attack, but to anyone who has a good veiw of his face, it is evident he is trying to guage his opponent\'s weak spots, so that he can attack when he finds it.
Krisorn sighs as his attack becomes obvious and Icarus easily avoids it. Krisorn himself is not caught by surprise at all and his axe comes around tapping the Corporal\'s blade away from him even as Krisorn attempts to close into close quarters with the younger man. Krisorn\'s steps are quite smooth but he doesn\'t quite seem to know exactly where to place himself to make the best use of his own strength and momentum but he seems to need to do so in some manner that allows him to easily parry the others blade.
[<#7229>] Aearwen Blushing prettily at the words of the man, Aearwen again responds in the sweet gentle tongue of her beloved Rohirrim friends, \"\" Smiling at Galdorim she gives him a cool, look with narrowed eyes, \"\" Gliding gracefully across the field of the training ground, Aearwen responds to Mardamir, \"\"
Galdorim moves his axe in the path of Belahir\'s blade. He grins broadly as a sweat starts to form on the out-of-shape Commander\'s face. \'You should not spin so quickly on an opponent. That is something that should be used when they are more tired..\' He then snaps the side of his axe towards the helmet of Belahir to show how open he is. He glances towards Mardamir and Aearwen. \"I am just tryingt o help your man, Mardamir, and Aearwen I will quit then I tire too much..\"
Galdorim attacks Belahir with his Axe and mildly wounds him!
Lossaran spins his spear in his hand and grips it with his left in addition to his usual right. \"Well done,\" he exclaims, \"But do make sure you when you return to a defensive position that you keep your sword more upright. Gives your enemy the sense that you are sincere in your attempt to end the other\'s life.\" Turning on his left heal to pivot his body almost sideways he uses the extra length to strike forward in a sweeping motion towards the man\'s legs, attempting to remove his feet from the ground.
Lossaran attacks Agrinnor with his Spear and mildly wounds him!
[Icarus(#30063)] The sound of steel hitting steel is heard, as Icarus arm resonated from his sword taps with the swigning axe. Although his attack is parried, Icarus does not get distracted and quickly takes a step back and turns around himself, bringing the dull edge of his sword behind Krisorn\'s leg, while saying with a small laugh, \"I have learn not to let my opponent to close, Krisorn.\"
Belahir leaps back away from Galdorim\'s axe but not fast enough. The blade skims his forehead, causing blood to run down his face. He quickly wipes it away lest it get in his eyes. He slowly begins to circle his opponent, raising his blade once more in a defensive stance. He advances towards Galdorim slowly and then slices a quick chop towards the man\'s legs.
Belahir attacks Galdorim with his Longsword, but he misses by a long shot.
Krisorn jumps the blade neatly, not trying to avoid it completely though, instead trying to land on Icarus\' blade for his weight would certainly loosen Icarus\' hold if he can manage it. Krisorn\'s face is a broad smile and says, \"I am glad to know i taught you that well. I\'ll be sure to not teach you as well in the future.\"
[Agrinnor(#28627)] Agrinnor tries to parry the Lossaran\'s spear, but fails missereably as his opponent\'s spear finds flesh. Although he did not block the attack, Agrinnor did see it coming and was prepared for it he almost stumbles but he quickly regains his balance, he now tryies an attack but he does not try to hit his opponent, instead he goes for the much longer target of trying to nock away his spear, though he does this in quite a defensive manner. The blade quickly comes back to the ready position for the attack, should the spear actually be deflected and a chance to attack is seen.
[<#27388>] Mardamir stands aside and listens with a smile as the Lady, who blushes so prettily, chides the Commander. \"\", he says aloud between the two, \"\", he adds and then returns to the question Aearwen first spoke, \"\", he asks, his brows pressing together, \"\"
Agrinnor attacks Lossaran with his Longsword, but he misses by a handspan.
[Icarus(#30063)] The Corporal\'s sword suddenly becomes very heavy, as Krisorn lands on it. As a reflex more then strategy, Icarus brings his shield up and thrusts himself forward towards Krisorn, standing in front of him, leting his sword drop under the woodsman\'s feet.
[<#22020>] Galdorim backs up out of the way of Belahir\'s blade. He looks at the blood that is on the face of Belahir. He lowers his axe slightly. \'Go get that blood cleaned up and then come back...\' He looks over to Mardamir with a mirthfull grin. He says with heavy breathes. \"\"
[<#7229>] Aearwen The amused eyes of Lady Aearwen rest on Mardamir as she again speaks the language of the horse lords, \"\", the tinkling of her laughter floats across the grunts and clash of weapons on the training field. With eyes well versed with men in battle, she watches the eloquent movement of one with a longsword, the glint of the blade flashing in the light of the lantern. Nodding her head in admiration of his stance she says, \"\"
Krisorn finds himself a bit off balance as he lands and Icarus\' sudden push into him leaves Krisorn no option but to fall backwards. Realizing that Icarus has let go of his main weapon though Krisorn drops his own axe as he falls and attemps to reach around Icarus\' shield, trying to get a hand hold on Icarus\' tabbard and to pull him forward and down as well, using Icarus\' own momentum.
Lossaran is apparently much stronger than he appears, letting his spear contact Agrinnor\'s longsword which hardly budges. \"Good attempt, Agrinnor!\" he exclaims, smiling brightly. The shadows stretch further into the arena as the torches become the only source of light now. Under such light the dark brown spear becomes harder to see, the tip being the best way to keep track of it\'s prescence. \"When against a longer weapon it is best however, to force your opponent into striking. In doing so you can sometimes find an opening on the sides.\" Instruction over, Lossaran spins extremely fast, spear carried around with him and at waist height. The momentum of the arc makes the blow hard and fast, and most likely, is intended to knock the man again to the ground.
Lossaran attacks Agrinnor with his Spear and mildly wounds him!
Belahir nods and takes a moment to walk to the edge of the training ground. He finds a towel and wipes some of the blood off of his face. It quickly stops bleeding for it was nothing more than a fleshwound. Before long he has returned to the field and readied himself again for battle. He flexes his arms before walking quickly towards his winded opponent. \"Are you ready sir? Or are you waiting for permission?\" He smiles and glances towards Lady Aearwen.
Galdorim takes a few heavy breathes before his pulls his axe to a ready poition. He motions for the young scout to comes at him again. \"I need no permission from Aearwent o practice! Come on unless you have had enough!\" He slaps the side of his axe against his shield causing a loud echo to ring through the training grounds.
[<#27388>] \"\", Mardamir nods, \"\", he says, motioning toward Galdorim and then over to a tall green clad man, Lossaran, with a wave of his hand toward them, \"\", he begins, using her name in familiarity, \'Do you come here this but to watch, or do you have some other purpose?\', he asks, slipping back into the common.
Belahir smiles and advances quickly, closing the gap between him and the commander. He swings his blade quickly towards the man, throwing all his strength into the attack.
[Agrinnor(#28627)] Agrinnor again tryies to deflect the spear with his longsword, and once more he fails misserably, the blade of the spear causing a very shallow nick in his waist area knocking him back and almost on the ground, but again he regains his balance, though a bit more work is needed for him to regain his balance, he makes a wild swing trying to get Lossaran\'s spear away from him, this is not really an attack, but more of a defensive measure, he uses this to jump back a few feet and prepare for his next move. He makes a move to speak but doesn\'t as he thinks for a brief moment and prepares for Lossaran\'s attack so he can make his counter.
Belahir attacks Galdorim with his Longsword and mildly wounds him!
Agrinnor attacks Lossaran with his Longsword, but Lossaran parries the attack with his Spear!
Icarus runs into Krisorn and a small grin appears on his face as he sees his opponent fall. Oppening his mouth to say something, Icarus\'s face suddenly change into a look of surprise, as he feels himsefl beeing pulled to the ground. Still leaning forward from his thrust and off balance, Icarus falls down as Krisorn pulls him down with him. His shield still in front of him, he falls on Krisorn shield first. Icarus looks around for a split second trying to realize what happened.
[Galdorim(#22020)] The ring of Belahir\'s sword stiking Galdorim\'s chain armor is sounded as he makes contact. The tall commander grins. \"Good hit there!\" He moves his shield to adjust for his arms not used to holding his heavy shield. He then snaps his axe in a sweep to try to snap the flat of the blade across the buttocks of Belahir.
Galdorim attacks Belahir with his Axe and mildly wounds him!
[Delios(#29016)] Stepping through the gates of the training ground, Delios smiles slightly. He had been waiting for this call for a while, and now it may seem time that his training begin. Moving along the edges, his eyes scan for any individual....who seems to know where and what he\'s doing.
Krisorn rolls as he hits the ground and he is up on his toes quickly and before Icarus can really recover, and more importantly before either recovers his weapons, Krisorn leaps at Icarus, his shield held in front of him, attempting to pin the younger man beneath it, effectively putting him out of the fight without having to actually use a blow that would kill him normally.
Lossaran again shows his strength by turning aside his opponents sword and watching the man scramble back into a defensive position. Again he remains motionless, pausing to speak. \"You strike well, Agrinnor, but your attacks are too haphazard. One clear blow, well thought-out and careful is worth ten wild flailings.\" He smiles, \"Do not forget that an opponent with a spear not only can use the tip but has the whole shaft to work with. It is both a blade and a club if you think about it.\" Again he pauses, cocking his head slightly to the left. Then, with great accuracy and an obviously well-practiced move, he moves forward 2 paces and arcs the spear in a high to low motion, sweeping finally at the legs hard and positioned well at the knees. Proving a point it is not the tip of the spear that lies in the path of Agrinnor\'s legs, but the shaft of the spear, its hard polished wood barely visible in the dull light.
Lossaran attacks Agrinnor with his Spear and mildly wounds him!
[<#7229>] Aearwen says in Rohirric, \"\"But what? Why did you stop before speaking what is on your mind?\"\" Recognition dawns upon her features and she claps her hand to her mouth, \"\", my humour is greatly amused to really that time, the poor man was simply out of him mind with his injury.\"
[Icarus(#30063)] Realizing what happened, Icarus quiclky turns on his back and tries to get on his feet. Half way up, Icarus collides with Krisorn leaping on him, cutting his breath short and falliong back to the ground, Krisorn\'s weight upon him. After a stuned moment, the young officer bursts into laughter, \"Well done, Krisorn. Well done indeed. I did not expect you grabbing my tobbard.\"
Belahir once again proves to slow to avoid the axe of his opponent. He pauses for a moment and raises an eyebrow at the Guardsman. \"Look, that was uncalled for. This is supposed to be a respectable match. Lets keep it above the belt, okay?\" He chuckles slightly and shakes his head before raising his sword again into an impressive stance. He attacks swiftly but saves his strength to defend against the next attack.
Belahir attacks Galdorim with his Longsword, but he misses by a long shot.
Krisorn smiles and taps Icarus lightly with his shield before getting off the younger man and helping him up, \"THank you. Hopefully no other opponent I fight will expect it either because it may give me the edge I need in a real fight. Remember that Icarus. Everything is a weapon including yourself. And in a fight for your life use anything you have to in order to win.\"
[Agrinnor(#28627)] Lossaran\'s attack was successful, on two counts: first it hit Agrinnor, doing very light damage to him but more importantly it knocked his feet out from under him. Agrinnor looks a bit beaten as he falls to the ground, but he uses his momentum to fall to the side of the scout, and he uses this as a chance for attack, thrusting the end of his blade at the ankle of his opponnent he attempts to even the score by knocking the other one down to his level. Although he has fallen to the ground he is obviously not beaten and is tense to try to roll out of the way of an attack.
Agrinnor attacks Lossaran with his Longsword, but Lossaran parries the attack with his Spear!
[Delios(#29016)] Stepping through the gates of the training ground, Delios smiles slightly. He had been waiting for this call for a while, and now it may seem time that his training begin. Moving along the edges, his eyes scan for any individual....who seems to know where and what he\'s doing.
Galdorim sides step the blow that Belahir was trying to deliver. \"Is that how the scouts train?\" He laughs deeply. \"I am sure the orcs in the east will not give you that priviliage!\" He steps in quickly and sweep his large foot along the back of Belahir\'s knee. \"The enemy will be using anything to get the advantage against you and you need to learn how to defend against it!\"
Galdorim attacks Belahir with his Bare Hands and mildly wounds him!
Morthil walks in also hanging near the fringes a pair of knives still at his waist and such he glances about quietly watching the multitude of matches in interest learning all he can from watching.
Mardamir must ignore Aearwen\'s first question, taken aback as he is by the woman\'s last comment, \"That man?\", he asks, pointing toward the green Lossaran in disbelief, \"He drew his blade upon you? I have never heard this before.\", he frowns, \"Tell me of it.\", he says flatly, his eye now resting hard upon the man they speak of.
[Lossaran(#28151)] Too telegraphed is Agrinnor\'s blow and as he strikes forward, Lossaran kicks it away with his spear, continuing his strike the scout\'s spear ends up hovering over the neck of his downed opponent. \"Well done for your first attempt against a long length weapon, Agrinnor.\" He moves the spear away from him and offers a hand up. \"You have shown a lot of promise,\" he says affiably.
Belahir takes the fall well, flipping backwards quickly so that he gets back on to his feet, however, the effect of constantly being beaten begins to show upon his face, but instead of using his anger with a blind charge, he instead begins to circle his opponent quickly, feinting in and then out, making only the lightest of actual attacks. His aim obviously to wear out his opponent.
Belahir attacks Galdorim with his Longsword, but he misses by a long shot.
[Aearwen(#7229)] Shocked by the words of the man, Aearwen completely forgets to speak in the gentle sweet sound of the neighbors to the North as she responds, \"Yes, I speak of Lossaran. During the siege on Osgiliath he was gravely wounded and out of his head.\" Her shoulders shrug as she continues with the story, \"My instructions to a male healer to tie him to his bed were either disregarded or the man managed to wiggle loose, the next thing I knew, he was back on his feet waving a dagger in my face, as if I were the enemy.\" Clucking her tongue gently she says, \"The poor man, in his clouded haze of injury and pain, I -was- the enemy. Tis wonderful to see him in such fine form.\" Laughing softly as she adds, \'There are so many battle stories to be told, arent there?\'
Icarus slowly gets up, rubbing his chest \"That is true and although I though of it, I didn\'t think you would use my \'weapon\' against me. But I am glad it happened here and not in battle.\" he says with a smile. Picking up his sword and putting it back in his sheath, he also adds with a big grin, \"Ah, and remind me to put you on a diete staring tomorrow.\"
[Delios(#29016)] Stepping over to the weapons rack and armory, Delios selects his own training gear. A studded leather coat of armor is slipped atop his normal garments, the long blue coat being folded aside for now. Removing a sword, fashioned for training and lengthy from hilt to top, Delios scan\'s it over with carful eye. \"This should do nicly....\" he mutters, to the seargent at arms before returning it to a sheath now strapped to his belt. Moving only a few more steps away, his hand reaches for a small shield to strap across his left forearm. The leather studded shield\'s thickness suits quite well for training, but more than that, and its weight would not hold. Moving now towards the field, he stands awaiting orders...something...or perhaps just a sparring partner.
[Agrinnor(#28627)] Agrinnor takes the scout\'s hand shifting his sword to the other hand as he is helped to his feet by his comrade-in-arms Lossaran. As soon as Agrinnor is on his feet he shifts his sword back to his other hand, and then sheaths it carefully. \"Thanks for the lesson, it is much more help to learn it here than in the field, I\'m sure a goblin wouldn\'t have
[Agrinnor(#28627)] ...stopped his spear as you did. Then he motions to the side of the training grounds, \"perhaps you could give me more insight into what I did wrong?\"
Galdorim frowns deeply at the scout\'s rage that has surfaced. His pulls his axe to a neutral position and calls out deeply towards Belahir. \"HOLD!\" He lowers his shield down somewhat as he snaps at the young scout. \"This is a sparing session. You need to learn to hold your temper!\" He glances over at Mardamir and then to Belahir. \"If you were to actually fight like this, you will make a stupid mistake and pay for it with your life!\" He starts to cough deeply as his ire is raised.
Krisorn laughs and picks up his axe, putting it back at his side as he turns to Icarus, \"Indeed. I shall be sure to work a bit more at getting rid of this paunch. For truly we can not afford to have it said that the guard was a bunch of slovenly, overweight, miscreants.\" Krisorn grins and says, \"Of course Corporal if I go on a diet you best be ready to join me there or at the very least be doing more running so you can beat me next time.\"
Mardamir, at first, only grunts his reply to the woman\'s recount and question, leaving his grey gaze sternly upon Lossaran for several moments. Watching as the man finishes with his companion, he finally speaks, \"Aye.. well, if you took no offense to it, m\'Lady, neither shall I, though I like it not.\", he frowns and then shakes the thought clear of his mind. \"Yes, m\'Lady, there is many a story.\", he agrees, \"I am certain you have your own share of them.\"
Icarus laughs \"I do not need a diete yet, but I will do the running.\" Icarus starts walking towards the edge of the grounds looking for somewhere to sit. Arriving at his destination, Icarus slowly seats down and starts looking at the men still training.
[<#7229>] Aearwen Shakes her head, \"\" Returning her gaze to the training field Aearwen frowns at the deep cough issuing from Galdorim, \"\", practically hissing out those last words as again she frowns at the tall Commander. Her voice rises slightly as she says, \'Galdorim. Galdorim!\', repeating her call to make sure the man hears her over the din of the training.
Morthil slowly moves towards the training gear he looks it over slowly before taking his own suit of studded gear...and for now rather than the usual sword taken by warriors he goes with his own choice of 2 training daggers one noticably longer than the other.
Lossaran claps his fellow scout\'s shoulder as a friendly gesture, smiling as he rest his spear over his left shoulder. His gray eyes again look to Aearwen and Mardamir as he says, \"Wrong is an incorrect word, Agrinnor, for you did many things correctly. You just not succeed in your attempts is all.\" He thinks for a moment as he walks with the man off the field toward the torches. \"Perhaps if I were to comment on your skill I would say this, although if you wish better advice than mine seek out Mardamir\'s yonder, when he is not busy.\" Briefly stopping his words to turn around and watch two other scouts pick weapons for combat, he finally continues, \"As I was saying, my only advice is: while you took well to my words about defensive position and waiting for an opportunity to strike, you always attack at my weapon and rarely at my body. A spear-wielding opponent is only good from a distance, hit at the body and especially at my upper torso. Imagine spar hand to hand with an opponent much bigger than you. It is wise to get in close and strike at the midsection than stand at a distance and be beaten senseless by long arms.\"
Belahir stops his running slowly and raises his eyebrows. \"Sir, is something the matter? I didn\'t realize that I was doing anything wrong. In fact if you didn\'t notice, I was very carefully making sure that my stance was such that I was preparted for any blow you would have sent my way. I was merely attempting to hit you where you were weakest, in your wind sir. Wouldn\'t that be what I would do to any opponent? That is how we scouts train. Though I admit I was frustrated at not being able to put a blade upon you, I did not think that I let loose my temper. So what good would it do to tell me to hold it?\"
Mardamir looks with Aearwen and steps forward at Galdorim\'s cry, concerned now with what is transpring between he and the scout he spars with, \"Is there a problem, Commander?\", he calls over, his frowning look of before remaining in place. Lowly and aside to the woman a pace behind him, he says in a urging voice, \"Hush m\'Lady! Let him be with this.\"
[Agrinnor(#28627)] Agrinnor nods when Lossaran has finished his advice. \"Yes but I never really had a chance to attack, you had me reacting the whole time after every blow, I was mererly trying to get in a good position to try that.\" Agrinnor looks to Lossaran to see what his reply to the statement is. He is almost oblivious to everyone else as he tries to learn more skill in his weapon use.
[Delios(#29016)] Hearing footsteps finaly approach, Delios turns to face a new comer. Through the night air, he smiles brightly before nodding, and adding in his cool voice, \"A late night spar for the evening dwellers of this land? Or do you wish to train with someone...more down at your level of training?\" The taunt is obviously well humored, as it is added with a bow and chuckle. Rising once more, Delios extends a hand in greeting. \"I am Delios...\"
Morthil raises an eyebrow watching Delios for a moment as he places both training knives in one hand he accepts the hand, \"Pleasure to meet, they call me Moroko.\" He smirks, \"And it may be prudent to train at my level...but prudence has never been one of my strong points.\"
[Aearwen(#7229)] Dropping her voice to a deadly tone, Aearwen hisses out sharply, \'Nay! I will -not- let him be with this. Too close to death\'s door did he lie and is not out of danger, even as we speak the poison herbs continue to work through his body, threatening his health.\" Her eyes flash with scorn and anger, \"The healing portion shall be attended by those that -know- of what they speak. Hear the deep rattle of his cough? That is the pieces of the poison breaking lose in his lungs as he struggles to cast off the poison.\" Whirling angrily, her petticoats a blur of blue satin she practically stomps off training field, cheeks ablaze with colour.
Lossaran nods slowly, and lets his spear dig into the ground by his feet. \"Aye, well I have had a lot of practice with my spear and I am used to the Dark One\'s beasts carrying smaller weapons,\" he says softly, perhaps giving the other scout a good excuse why he was defeated. \"Besides that I would say you did move enough. Often with speared opponents you must thrown them off by a lot of movement. Never let your feet get to rooted into where you stand. If you can keep me guessing when and where you will attack I would be much less likely to keep my body as guarded.\"
Galdorim slips his axe into his belt and nods to Belahir. \"It is still a training session and your anger should be stayed. I under stand you being frustrated, but that should only inspire you and not cloud your mind.\" He looks to Aearwen and grins with some mirth in his blue eyes. \"I am stopping the work out now, M\'Lady. I understand my limitations and was not trying to psuh them...too much.\" He extends his large hand out to Belahir. \"Thanky ou for the workour, Belahir.\"
Delios turns slightly as sharp words begin to fly, however, his attention is taken back to the newly arived combatant. \"Well. I think then we should find our own circle of combat, and sharpen our skills for the roads ahead.\" He chuckles again, in his often well humored manner, then starts off towards one empty section of the field. Drawing sword, Delios turns back to Mothil and nods. \"Make ye ready...my challenges are not without an edge to follow.\" His eyes flash slightly in the torchlight, that long golden hair shimmering ever so slightly.
Belahir bewilderdly takes the man\'s hand and flashes a smile, \"It was a good work out sir. Though I swear to you that my mind was not clouded.\" He glances towards Aearwen, \"And my lady, do not be too hard on him. It is good to push your limitations, after all, that that does not break you, makes you stronger.\"
Morthil smiles widely he nods and follows towards the section sizing up Delios he holds the daggers in his hands getting used to them....
Mardamir throws up his hands at the Lady\'s protest and verbal assault, \"Alright m\'Lady.. but where the houses are your grounds, these are ours.\", he says, trying to make amends with it, \"Do not leave in anger!\", he calls after her, though she is already away. \"M\'Lady!\", he calls, stepping after her. Turning back to the face the grounds, his expression seems mystified and he merely shrugs toward Galdorim, \"She is a healer and a woman.\", is all he can say before lifting a hand in fare well to the man and then turning to follow at a hurried stride after the angry woman.
[Delios(#29016)] Narrowing his eyes slightly upon Morthil, Delios chuckles. \"Surely you jest. A simple thrust will do you in good man. Those daggers will be your down fall against this range.\" Shaking his head, Delios raises shield over chest before swinging into Morthil. His dulled sword is aimed at shoulder height, a wrist snap to aid in its speed and acuracy. Stepping only slightly into it, Delios keeps cautious and balanced during the strike.
[Agrinnor(#28627)] Agrinnor nods to Lossaran\'s comments, \"That will be very usefull information, I am sure.\" There is a brief pause before the thoughtfully continues, after looking down at his somewhat half and half brown, and green garb, \"How does my dress seem, is it well camoflauged?\" The tone of his voice does not change although the volume of it drops signifigantly so that only Lossaran can hear him.
Morthil smiles at the words, and shoulder height not being very tall for him Morothil ducks slightly and lunges in dropping even shorter underneath the strike his dagger aiming directly for the gut of his foe. His speed is fast even amid these trained warriors.
Belahir sheathes his blade and shakes out his muscles. He wipes the sweat from his brow and then walks over to Mardamir and nods to him. \"Good evening sir, how have the rest of the scouts been looking tonight?\"
[Combat(#13388)] Belahir swings the glittering Isilnare over his shoulder and quickly slides it into it\'s sheath with a metallic ring.
Lossaran smiles over at the man and offers a reply with a chuckle, \"You will know when an enemy\'s arrow hits you or the tree beside you, my friend. But to me you seem well attired for the forests.\" He gathers up his green cloak and places it back on, nodding once to the man, \"I must away. Thank you for an excellent training Agrinnor. You shall prove to be a fine scout I\'m sure.\" With that the slightly older man begins to walk toward the entrance of the grounds.
Galdorim smiles to Belahir. \"Then I was mistaken...\" He then quickly turns and follows Aearwen as she stomps off the training grounds. \"Aearwen, May I have a word with you?!\" His long strides easily start to close the ground between them as he slings his shield over his back
[Combat(#13388)] Galdorim takes off Studded Leather Shield.
[Combat(#13388)] Agrinnor slowly eases his sword into his sheath.
[Delios(#29016)] The quickness of his foe surprises Delios for sure, but his preperation before hand allows a quick drop of the shield over his gut. Deflecting the blade outward, Delios steps to his right a good reach...before bringing the hilt of the sword down hard(yet reserved) onto Morthil\'s back. Pulling away with a twist from the close range combat, Delios levels sword point to Morthil. \"A nice strike...quick and often leathal. But you left your back exposed that time, friend. Now...please. Let us continue.\" Delios chuckles as he leaves shield towards his left front, and sword leveled at Morthil.
[Aearwen(#7229)] Ignoring the voices of both Mardamir and Galdorim, the noble woman continues her trek across the training ground. The bouncing of her auburn curls, almost a comical sight as her feet dig into the ground in an angry stomp. Those men close to the street can hear her muttered words, \"Fool hearted men, pushing themselves to hard, for what! The enemy drains them enough, its not like they need this arrogant show of manhood.\" Sending a boy for the coach she strides back and forth, still muttering under her breath as she awaits the coach to return her to the House of Healing.
Morthil winces slightly he too retreats a bit and watches Delios for a moment...no this isn\'t the usual street battle to be finished in one shot, he smiles slightly and rotates his wrists slightly, \"Aye...I\'m not yet accustomed to the ways of the longsword.\" He grins and circles Delios waiting on the defensive his knives positioned to intercept any blade.
[Agrinnor(#28627)] Agrinnor looks about the Training Grounds and sits down to watch what matches are still in progress.
[Delios(#29016)] With a chuckle and grin, Delios lounges forward, his sword already in prime position. Feet spread, his body is now low in his center of gravity, shield coming frown to protect as much as possible.
[Agrinnor(#28627)] But as Agrinnor continues to watch the matches, he notices that he is getting a bit tired. As he starts to get up he also notices his minor scraps and bruses. With this he leaves the Training grounds probably heading for his home, or an inn.
Morthil moves with the same speed this time his left hand coming across his body to deflect the sword he spins and continues trying to stab backwards into Delios\'s side before completing the spin and stopping behind Delios.
Mardamir follows Aearwen partway across the year and then judges from her stance that her mood is not one open to further conversation. With a sigh, he looks toward her and after a moment he turns and lets his long, slow strides take him away across the yard and back onto the curving streets of the city.
Belahir watches as his superior follows the lady Aearwen off towards the city and he decides to head out as well. He shrugs out of his studded leather armor and walks back towards the city. He waves to those he knows and walks out
[Delios(#29016)] With that spin, Delios is thrown off balance. He is dropped to his back knee shield coming to deflect most of the blade away. However, it still catches the shoulder of his armor. Not waiting for a comment or reaction, Delios turns on knee to the opposite of Morthil, his sword coming around to strike hilt behind knee. His shield returns towards his front, ready once more for any strike or reaction from the (hopefully fallen) Morthil.
[Combat(#13388)] Belahir draws the mighty blade Isilnare from over his shoulder.
Morthil frows as his knee starts to collaps he begins rolling to the side away from Delios already seemingly well practiced at being knocked down there is barely a delay before he\'s up to a knee and crouched smiling widely ready to spring at Delios....not surprisingly his forward foot being the one not hit...the other one\'s gonna be stinging in the mornin.
[Delios(#29016)] Smiling slightly with a loud laugh, Delios rises to his feet slowly. \"You certainly are a quick one. Though, you aren\'t using your range to you\'re advantage.\" With that, Delios returns to a low, defensive stance, sword held out at point to keep distance from Morthil.
Morthil smiles lightly he springs forward slightly his knife\'s scissoring straight towards the longswords blade he moves in close, fast.
[Delios(#29016)] Allowing the blade to be caught between the daggers, Delios angles his hilt downward, driving foward at the same time. He thrusts his shield into the forearms of the attacker, while his boot raises to the (shorter) chest level of Morthil, delivering a powerful kick. Though the kick may succeed, its quite obvious that Morthil\'s attempt at grapling the longsword prove somewhat succesful, as Delios looses grip momentarly(thus stopping any following strike).
Morthil starts to turn even as the kick is hitting him at him his leg sneaking around to catch the now off balanced Delios his blades sliding off the longsword and the shield and kick by Delios propelling him faster into a turning sweep followed by a stab.
[Delios(#29016)] The sweep is succesful, as Delios\' knees buckle from under him. Slamming hard to the ground, he grunts heavily before raising point to Morthil\'s chest. Even on the ground, the longsword provides range in combat. \"Well met, Morthil! Your blades are quick indeed! Tell me...\" he grunts slightly as he begins to roll to his feet, \"where did you learn that style of fighting?\"
Morthil smiles down the blade he smiles, \"Not slow yourself.\" He shrugs and starts to stand dusting himself off he extends a hand to Delios, \"They better be quick...it\'s all that\'ll save me. I learned it from...just watching things..I\'m short so the longerswords are always unwiedly,\" He smiles slightly, \"And Longswords take too long and are too hard to use right in small alleys. And working in a small town, there were many of those.\"
