Dol Amroth: Men Ernil - Court of the Fountain

A massive elliptical fountain dominates this court--and gives it its name--fully twenty feet on its long axis, perhaps half as wide. Made of smooth white stone, it consists of two broad levels which can--and often do--act as benches for the denizens of the Citadel. In the center of the fountain stands a large statue, water burbling \'round his feet in a comely display. The court itself is roughly square, its perimeter delineated by short walls of white stone in all directions but west, where tall ramparts mark the beginning of Dol Amroth\'s true defenses.

Sunlight gleams almost painfully from all around you, shining as it does from the polished walls and the magnificent fountain. Spray from the burbling fonts surrounding the fountain\'s central statue casts myriad rainbows about, and the court is filled with a gentle buzz of folk moving to and fro on business, speaking quietly, or simply enjoying a stroll. Pennons flutter in the breeze on the ramparts above and to the west, where the Prince\'s white Citadel rests like a snowy cap on the Hill of Amroth.

A warm mist is falling gently from the overcast sky. A wind blows in from the plains, cooling you.

Gatehouse and Men Ernil

A crowd of people have formed around the body of a boy who lays upon his back with a dagger wound in his chest, lifeless eyes bound forever upon the clear skies ahead, not far away there stands the Prince Elphir in the garb of a Knight and the Lady Gweneth Bragollach.

\"SUMMON THE HEALERS!\" Elphir cries to the crowd, and runs forward to the boy, falling in the ground to test for life.... there is none. Furiously he turns toward the Bragollachs for a brief moment before turning back to the crowd. \"A thousand florins upon the head of this boy\'s murderer!\" Absolute rage is in the eyes of the prince as he turns toward the Bragollachs once again. A fury barely held in check. \"Neither of you are to leave this city until myself or my father say otherwise you may consider yourselves under interrogation until that time.\"

Elphir\'s voice is grating and quiet, but clearly audible. He does not shout, nor does he need to.

Gweneth glances up from the ground where she lies, fallen from the weakness of days locked away in her room, and sees the boy lying lifeless on the ground. Her eyes fall, then her head and then she lays unconscious.

Running towards the crowd, Drenlyn peers uneasily at the faces of the Lords standing before him. Not daring to bow, he cautiously moves to the side of Elphir.

Elphir\'s jaw is clenched as he walks toward Gweneth\'s unconscious form, and he reaches down to scoop her up. The crowd in the meantime has become somewhat frantic it has been a very long time since something of this horrific magnitude as transpired within the peaceful walls of Dol Amroth. Agitation has not turned to panic yet, however, and the people keep their presence of mind...for now.

Against the wrath of the Prince the crowds courage falters and they fall back, cries for the healers to be summoned sound quickly towards the rear of the group, the boy remains lifeless where he lays, the daggers handle glittering dully in the light of the sun.

Cirthel runs to Lady Gweneth\'s Side attempting to revive her by wafting her had furiously, to no avail.

The chaos summons the attentions of the peoples, and more and more come to mingle as the healers are called. Doubtless, the healers will have to part this mass of people as they come to tend the slain boy, and the spirit of the crowd, particularly those who did not actually witness the event, is low, full of conjecture and wonder.

Frowning at the body of the boy with a look of pain, Drenlyn moves towards the approaching healers, shoving the crowed aside to make room. Leading them to the body, Drenlyn returns to Elphir\'s side, and looks sorrowfully at the unconscious Lady of Bragollach.

Cirthel shaking in fear and confusion looks around curiously wondering what she is needed for, she then steps back trying to give more space to the others standing closer.

As the Squire Drenlyn walks up to him, Elphir turns to the young man. \"Squire Drenlyn? Aid the healers in helping Lady Gweneth to the House of Healing. And let it be known that she is not to leave the premises, save with the permission of myself or the Prince.\" The Crown Prince begins issuing similar orders to the Knights and Men at Arms who have gathered around, to clear up the scene of the crime and preserve the evidence, such as it is.

Bowing low, Drenlyn moves quickly to the side of the body, standing over the healers ready to do as they ask as the sun dips beneath the clouds. The clear sky clouds over and the day ends in miserable rain as the Valar Ulmo weeps for his lost child.
