Description

Long years and harsh seasons have yet to touch this man. He could be mistaken for a man of thirty or thirty-five, but he is in fact fifty. He stands at just about six and a half feet, his frame tall and proud. His dark hair falls in stringy and unkempt strands to his shoulders. Below his high creased forehead are his eyes, piercing gray eyes that hold both sorrow and happiness...and wisdom. Most of the time they seem to be alight, for the man is young and still loves to laugh. His nose and chin are prominent, and between them is a mouth that seems forever curved into a smile, although it has been known to now and again curl into a frown.

His garb is simple, as simple can be. He wears a shirt of forest green, caked and dirtied with the mud of many travels. His limbs are long, particularly his arms, and his hands and feet are large. Above his shirt is his darker green cloak that bares the memories of many travels, and is clipped at the neck by a silver brooch in the shape of an eagle with wings outstretched. His pants are brown and patched, and his black boots are leather. At his side he wears his longsword. Though plainly dressed, the true majesty of the great men of Westernesse still lives within him.

History

There was once a family who lived in Fornost, a large and proud group of people descended from the great men of Westernesse. With the coming of the Witch-King though, the family fled west to Ered-Luin and became a waning folk, wanderers with no true homes. Now well into the Third Age, the most learned of this scattered clan was Aranered, and his wife was Melenthiel. Upon a time of winter the two fled their homes under the Blue Mountains and headed southeast for Imladris, for winters there were harsh and Melenthiel was with child. They were forced to take refuge under the Weather Hills, where Arthamon came early into the world on New Years Day.

So Arthamon grew under the care of his father, learning swordsmanship and how to speak the elvish tongue. He was also taught the history of his people, and the lore of his great family was passed onto him. When Arthamon had barely reached manhood, he followed his father deep into the Wilds of Eriador, only to witness Aranered's cruel death at the hands of orcs. The event hardened Arthamon, and afterwards he would travel farther from home while his aging mother took refuge in Imladris, where she dwells to this day.

So the years of the Third Age drag on, and still Arthamon continues to uphold the duties given to him by his father. Friend of the elves and enemy to all evil creatures, he continues to defend the Northern Kindgom from the forces of evil. He continues to help those who need it. His most important duty though, the one he promised to continue when his father died, is to protect the lore of his great family, and to keep the memories of his once great people alive.

Other Names

In Bree he is known as Rover, but in most places he is simply called Wanderer.
