| Did you know Master BREV's back in town? I saw him trying to sneak in unnoticed yesterday evening, no doubt hoping noone had seen the state of his garments. What had he been doing, rolling in mud? He stopped to talk to young Master RIOLAN, so I took a good long look.
Instead of talking about the tricks of their trade, carpenter and boatbuilder struck up a conversation about ... horses? Seems that Master RIOLAN has a rare contempt for the local beasts. He was waxing lyrical about the superiority and swiftness of Easterling mounts - what, doesn't he know that the best stock in the land comes from the Karath stables? At least, that's what they say. If you ask me, he's a disgrace to his House! Brev argued back for the merits of that shaggy furball that he calls a pony, but who'd listen to him? I've heard the foreigner still has trouble keeping his seat ... hmm, where /did/ that mud come from?

| The Centre of Merchant's way was uncharacteristically dark last night, even at such a late hour. Most of the town was snuggled into their beds but a ruckus was a foot out in the street. That Greenshirt LOUSE (played by Brev) was having a time of it trying to get a latern down off a hook that had burned out. Seems she couldn't quite reach it, though.
Especially with all that thudding coming from down the road. It was like someone beating against the bottom of the planks! Well, of course, that couldn't be anyone other than little SIAN (played by Kanyaria). He stopped to find out what all the noise was and that's when he found Louse trying to reach the latern. He made a point of telling her how great a job she was doing (or not) and it sounded like she told him it might've been easier if he wasn't trying to wake the dead. Poor Sian took the girl serious, too. That lower lip started quivering just /thinking/ about a ghost coming in to scoop him up and drag him to their world. Louse evenually had to promise to walk the boy home but only if he helped her get the latern down first. Louse went to pick the boy up to get the latern down but it seems he's been stealing more of those sticky bun things he likes from the bakery. He's not as little as he use to be! But he was able to get the latern down and Louse didn't drop him, as he feared. She set him down on the street and was going to go get the latern relit and then walk him home but as she reached for it, Sian dropped it and broke it. While he was crying, Louse took off down the street and away from any of the Watch that might appear and Sian suddenly realizing he was alone with the ghosts took off after her. Think anyone will suspect those two?

| We all know Master BREV is fond of his wife, but did he really need to block the traffic by stopping in the street with a cartload of wood just so he could pass the time of day with her? That poor prentice of his, Ottar, was hard-pressed to keep the cart rolling back down Cargo Lane. Just as well GIDON (you know, that skulking hunter fellow who hangs around Master Brev sometimes) was nearby, he lent a hand with the ropes.
Funny, Gidon didn't look best pleased to see his friend and his lady. In fact, I'd have sworn he was trying to avoid them - he wouldn't look at Lady ISOBEL at all! And she's not easy to miss, now that there's *ahem* twice as much of her. It was very strange. You don't think he's ... well, jealous?

| Did you see that stranger with the overgrown beard in the Market Square the other evening? Huh? What do you mean, you were watching Master GAVVING Tull? What was he doing that was so special? Sneaking around in alleys, hmm? I'm sure he just went to relieve himself, that's hardly news. No, of course I don't think he could have had blood on his hands. Your imagination's always running away with you!
Anyway, the stranger. Surprised you didn't notice him, he had a beard that would have done a Dwarf proud! Hardly the current fashion, reckon he harks back to an older generation. He was standing staring into the Market Pool, muttering something about it having grown smaller. Master BREV was nearby, he'd been talking to young RIOLAN Karath, so he exchanged a few words with the man. Turned out the fellow was a Taurdain and brother to Lady Niamh - DARIK I think he said his name was. Not your average Taurdain, mind, I caught a glimpse of a mail shirt under his cloak. Wonder what's brought him back to Esgaroth now? Is he planning to use that fancy sword? And what does he make of his niece marrying a foreigner and a commoner to boot? I've heard they gave the carpenter a title; no doubt they're hoping to sweep those humble origins under the carpet. We'll see ...

| Those High-Ups are always poking their nose into Decks business when they're not wanted, it's hard for a fellow to find any peace! Take that Underdecks Infirmary of theirs - I'm telling you, /I/ wouldn't go near that place for love nor money. The other night I saw a hooded figure banging on the door, shouting something about 'Open up in the name of the Watch!" Next thing, there was this scream, sounded like someone was being tortured! And a lot of argy-bargy. Took their sweet time about opening up, those healers did - looked mighty suspicious to me. When the door /did/ finally open, I could see it was that Brev fellow on duty. You know what they say about him ...
Anyway, the Watchman (if it was a Watchman, I sure couldn't see anything under that hood, though I do wonder if that blot round his mouth was a moustache (*cough* LOREN)) came out again right quick and headed up top. Soon after that another healer arrived; no sooner was she in the door than Brev took off like there was a dragon singeing his backside. Looked mighty odd to me. You don't think he's in trouble with the Law? You'd think Taurdain would hush stuff like that up.

| Eve came with the cool touch of fall. And by that giant rooster statue that looms by the Arathmor estate a group gathered. LOUSE (Played by Brev) scolded and chased away some kids, is it me or is the girl finally growing up? That weird Taurdain man DARIK was there too, wonder what he was doing out and about alone! And to say, ORIANA was doing much the same! Suspicious! Or maybe they have no lives..
Either way, they talked for a bit, Darik gave Louse some needed advice, and then left. But it was Lady Oriana that I overhead asked Louse to be her aid! Who would -dare- take on that wild child?! No one ever doubts a Karath their bravery but maybe right now their smarts is in question. The girl accepted, but I bet you, it wont be a easy job!

| I declare, House Taurdain's bursting at the seams these days! First it was Lady ARLA and her husband LOREN's second child, young Kaelan. Then Lady Niamh's brother DARIK turns up after swanning round the borders for goodness knows how many years. Just what business a respectable Taurdain has joining the King's Men I don't know!
Now Lady ISOBEL's given birth - to a daughter, after her telling all and sundry she was convinced the baby was a boy. Just goes to show those scholars don't know everything! The babe seems healthy enough - I heard it crying - and we're told Lady Isobel is well too, though they have her cloistered away 'to regain her strength'. The rest of us should be so lucky! My poor sister was up and tending to her other weans within a day .... but I suppose those nobles live in their own little world.
