Title: Catching up
The Hall of Nain is always busy with comings and goings. Stand around there long enough and you're bound to run into someone you know. Take the other day ... That young Skald BARDUR was wandering along with a tune on his lips and no eye for his path. Fortunately DORN Greyhand is sharp-eyed enough for two - well, he would be, wouldn't he, being a scout? Anyway, collision was avoided and I heard the pair catching up on a couple of months worth of chit-chat.
Seems Bardur hasn't been invited back by the humans - he claims it's their lack of musicality, though those of us older and wiser wonder if off-key dawn serenades after a dozen mugs of the Flagon's best might have something to do with it. He was talking about heading down to the Dale-lands anyway in the hope of catching an autumn festival or two. Dorn, of course, volunteered to go with him - as he said, "Someone has to help them drink that ale." Or was that Bardur?
Dorn, meanwhile, is enjoying life as the youngest Ravenfeather Scout and has even done something about those hairs on his chin! I reckon those little stringy bits like mouse-tails are meant to be braids (if you ask me, his barber deserves double pay!). Bardur was impressed enough by the new look, or perhaps the new status, to ask his peer for some sword-training and the scout readily agreed. Hah, I look forward to seeing that! Do you suppose that dreamy Skald ever listens properly to instructions? We shall see ...
