In Bree

One of the dwarves of Erebor currently wintering in Bree, Frarin is known to be a silversmith and merchant and quite wealthy, by all accounts. He makes his home at the Prancing Pony and frequents the common room there, though is regarded as something as a loner and rarely smiles.

Some may remember him as heading the group of mad dwarves who set about digging those funny little ditches around Bree at the start of the summer of 3043. He seems at least to have regained some of his sanity though, and reigned in his temper, because that project has been abandoned.

Gossip says that he keeps strange company, but then he is a dwarf, after all. He is prone to hurting himself apparently, having returned to Bree on multiple occasions with grievous injuries. And he is thought to be on decent terms at least with that strange Southron Rhiffarth.

Still, he's also known to be fond of Bree. The no-good smith's son Tamhill apparently enjoys pestering the merchant, and Frarin is said to be teaching the Pony's orphan lad Lek his letters.

Rumours

Recently Frarin has gained a rather unpleasant reputation. That lad Keldean Pinewick is said to have overheard the dwarf speaking with another dwarf and then claimed that Frarin was behind the murder of the dwarf Norli, found dead several months ago in the Chetwood. Word has it that Keldean has since recanted of this claim, but rumours die hard in Bree.

Why does Frarin seem to be in such a foul mood lately, after all? And why is there a bandage around his neck?

Appearance

Around Bree he known mostly as the dwarf with the scarred face and a limp, for these are his most distinguishing features. He is a sturdy fellow, with a long brown beard and a dark green tunic.

He favors his left hip though, causing him to limp and occasionally seek the aid of a walking stick. Two scars mar also his face, one stretching from just above his mouth to beneath his left eye, the other running from his brow to his left temple.

Additionally, he occasionally carries a unique blue-tinted war hammer, though not always.
