History

The son of Drogo Baggins and Primula Brandybuck, Frodo is an only child. He lived in Brandy Hall with his parents, until he was 12 years old. In 1380, Drogo and Primula drowned in an accident while boating on the Brandywine River, orphaning Frodo, who was subsequently brought up in Brandy Hall until his twenty-first year. It was then that his cousin Bilbo, then aged ninety-nine, adopted the young hobbit as his heir and bought him to Bag End. The two gave very lively combined birthday-parties (they shared the birthday of September/Halimath 22nd) each year, until the famous (infamous?) Long-Expected Party in 1401. Frodo is more pensive and moody than hobbits are wont to be, and eagerly seeks news of far lands. He speaks Sindarin, and knows a little Quenya; he is said to have uncommon skill in pronouncing foreign languages. He has few friends his own age, although he was close to Bilbo and a number of his younger cousins.
