Nob is mentioned twice in the trilogy by Tolkien - once in Fellowship of the Ring, where he is referred to by our beloved Barliman Butterbur as a wooley-pated slow-coach, and assists the innkeeper in bringing food to Frodo and friends; and once in Return of the King, where he rushes to the door with a cudgel thinking that the returning hobbits are ruffians. Thus I am playing him as an assistant innkeeper. In the absence of a PC Barliman, Nob hires folks to work at the Pony, pays them, and generally runs things.
