Title:

a Lady of Karath; Steward of House Karath

Oriana.jpg

Description:

The woman before you is of average height, but she stands with a regal air that makes her seem taller. The gown adorned on her body is a soft peach. It flows to her feet where it meets brown boots, and has sleeves that billow out from the elbows. It is lined in gold and silver trim, and is finished with a gemmed ring upin her right index finger, and a matching necklace with a moonstone pendant that rests above the v-shaped neckline of her dress.

Beyond the flattering outfit is smooth and soft olive skin, her delicate hands can be seen randomly brushing away near-black curls from her head, the hair left to fall loosely around her. Eyes match that darkness, their big and wide and suite her warm smile and delicate nose.

Finishing it all off is cloak that flutters around her, often cought in a breeze or the wind. She wears a clasp to hold it together; it bearing the mark of Karath upon it.

History:

Born in the spring of 3034, Oriana is the second child of the late Lord Irin of Karath and his wife Evanna. The eldest of the siblings is her brother, Bernar, who now rules over the house.

She is many years younger then her brother, though unexpected, a gift none the less. To this warrior house a daughter can mean just as much as a son, but what was unexpected was the shyness, the timidity of their daughter. Though bright and kind and warm there was very little talent she had (at the time) for conversing with others and kept, as much as possible, to herself and her books.

But being of Karath that meant also the standard training, as they are a house base on pride and honour there was much in that area she had to learn. So, given a sword and shield like her brother the lass was held to a daily routene of training. Though she showed promise it was said that her lack of interest halted any ability the child may have.

Despite the love for his daughter, Irin found himself closer and more attached to Bernar; his mindset, being geared towards war and battle seemed much more fitting than a little girl who showed no interest in that field. And though not uncommon, it may not have been exactly what he had hoped for in his child.

So did she grow, with daily practice a constant and shyness as her best friend. Life growing up as a Karath was as normal and standard as it could be. That was until her father decided his little girl needed a bigger sense of reality. Going to her with his wife Evanna the three spoke for hours, and it was then decided that Oriana would be sent into the world, not as herself but in the guise of a common woman. This had more purpose to it than simply getting their daughter to come out of her shell. Lord Barlin, cousin and best friend to her father, and more of a uncle then anything else had suggested that her talent might best be used to soften the exposure of their house.

All seemed to agree to this concept, and Oriana couldn't have been happier to get the chance to venture out into far off lands and see the world. So it was shortly after that she had packed up her things, removed the likeness of nobility and set off into the world, with a retinue of guards.

Sixteen was the age she had left, and it was three years that she was gone. A year of that was spent with the Beornings, and their way of life came as a deep shock. It seemed to her that the lines of nobility and wealth meant little if you did not have what was truly meant behind it: family, friends, and people who care for you. The experience had also made her eyes open to a very different way of life. A experience that still, to this day, has remained with her.

Another portion of her time was spent in Dale and other various towns in the vicinity of Karath's land holdings. But it was Celebannon that had brought most of that attention, for it was there that she was privileged to the learn two languages of the Ndaedeldhrim: Sindarin and Bethteur. Oriana had spent much of her time with the Elves, closely learning their languages. It was not easy; they had a fluid and smooth matter about them, and a culture very different from her own. But the rest of her time away the young Karath woman spent closely with a aged Elf with whom she had grown, during her time of study and adventure in their world.

Yes, it may seem odd that the head of the Warrior House had sent out his daughter, to have her learn such lessons, but they brought great benefit. Not only for her but also for the house. And despite how their pride and honour marks them, the Karath standard remained the same: rougher than most, and Oriana was not so. Her time with the Elves had imparted to her an elegance; a poise. The time with the Beornings and visiting Dale and other towns added in a modesty and deeper appreciation for life.

With those three years over and having returned home, it was shortly after that that her father was killed in battle. It was a sad, sad affair and there was much pain and hurt. Having little time for her father to see who she had become, having little time to explain to him her adventures, experiences, and what she brought back to aid the house, she felt much guilt over her time away, despite how it was wanted by all.

And since his death, with the sorrow of a lonely mother, and a brother who has seems to have gone off into his own world, Oriana's hand was all but forced into a return to Esgaroth. Not unwelcome, the move there still proved to be a bit more difficult than expected, with Oriana having been by her mothers side for so long.

But the transition there went smoothly in the end, and now she lives in the fair Laketown, going about her work, helping her brother run the household and bringing all that she had learned with her to help.
