Title:

a Nobleman of Karath, Sergeant of the King's Men

Description:

This man of the Dale-lands is slightly taller than average for his kin; noticable, but nothing unusual. Dark brown hair, falling to the shoulders, crowns his head and dark blue eyes look out from either side of a slightly aquiline nose that has been broken and set more than once. Over all, the face is a handsome one; a beard, carefully trimmed and just heavier than 'stubble', lines his jaw and around his mouth.

This man is dressed in hard wearing, if finely cut and made, clothing. Belted sable trousers of heavy, fine wool cover the legs and fall over leather boots, stained black and hard of sole. Covering the torso, falling to the knees and split to the wist with wrist-length sleeves, is a tunic of dark blue; a matching gambeson is worn as well to provide padding for the next item. A hauberk of mail, selected rings black and placed to form a pattern, is worn; it falls to the knees and is split to the waist with arms falling to the wrist.

Worn atop this is a tabard bearing the arms of Girion and Dale, with further markings to identify this man as a Sergeant of the King's Men. A weapons belt is around the waist, bearing a long sword in a fine scabbard upon it. Secured at the shoulders, with broaches bearing the sigil of House Karath, is a dark cloak.

History:

Twenty-five years ago, Wilheard and Erna of the Karath welcomed their first child into the world: Raynar. Two followed afterwards, Wimund and Rowena, two and four years after the birth of their first. It was in Esgaroth, Lake-Town of fame and story, that Raynar was born and where he was raised in the martial traditions of House Karath. An energetic (though some may say 'wild') child in his youth, the early years of Raynar's life proceeded smoothly until his fourteenth year.

It was in that year that he began to dally with a commoner lass; the matter lasted for a year before it was discovered. Wilheard, scandalised by the matter, send Raynar to live with his brother, Cedric, Raynar's uncle. For the year he spent in his uncle's company, Raynar mostly spent idle beyond further instruction he received; as his sixteenth year dawned, however, the youth took the only real option available to him and joined the King's Men.

Parts of his training he received from such personages as Lord Gelbard of Girion and Lord Barlin of Karath, which tempered the fire of youth; that said, however, the energy of Raynar's early years is quite visible still in battle, where he fights ferociously. Since enlisting in the King's armies, Raynar has risen to the rank of Sergeant and seems to be flourishing in the role, the added responsibilities having further refined the young Karath.
