Emyn Engrin clans
Emyn Engrin has four clans:
At the respective head of each clan is one individual to whom all other clan members defer in times of clan issues. This elder, or Thane as they are known, represents the views of his clan and speaks for its folk before the Council of Engrin. The word of the Thane is final in judging internal clan matters, though on very rare occasions the Lord Steward can intervene in such decisions for what he may deem as just reason. A Thane will preside over both joyous and grim events of the clan, be it a wedding union or a sentencing for crimes committed. As the actions of one individual can reflect on the clan as a whole, each Khazad takes their role within the strict dwarven society very seriously, and none more so than the Thanes themselves. It is therefore not uncommon to find that the clan elders are masters in more than one craft, thus permitting them to move about more easily in order to keep an keen eye upon the daily routine of their clan-folk.
