Zinbar
The Zinbar clan, though old, was decimated when Khazad-dum fell to the balrog, many of its sons being valiant warriors. The ragged few families left to it in exile were burgeoned over time by a number of septs. These adopted families had different skills from what was traditional to the clan, and the aims of the Zinbar changed. During the Exile the clan, among other pursuits, kept solvent by travelling between lands and working the hides of those peoples into leather goods of superior quality.
Not among the founding clans of Erebor, they settled therein some years after the others, and as a result do not possess as many shares in the Mountain's existing resources as do the other clans. This has kept their focus, to the present day, on leatherworking, and they hold controlling interest in the king's tanneries at the foot of the long lake. This proximity to the dwarves neighbors the Dale-men has resulted in a larger amount of trade with them, however, something that is helping the Zinbar catch up to the older and larger clans.
Clan Device
The field (background) of emblems sporting the device of the Zinbar is two-toned, separated by a bend sinister (a diagonal line from upper right to lower left), the upper half silver and the lower blue. Upon this, in gold, will be emblazoned a seven-pointed star. Unenamelled metallic mediums may forgo the two-toned field. Flags bearing this device will be square, and fringed with blue and silver tassels, opposite the like coloured halved of the field.
